Good luck finding any propaganda in there, other then the propaganda of trying to encourage our youth.

What makes me confused is now that Schools opted not to show these types of messages to children, they've now basically set precedent that schools should never televise or host any type of visit / appearance by a politician on school grounds and also possibly the hosting of any type of motivational speaker.

All of that hooplah because we are "Afraid" we might hurt the feelings of a minority of people.

Now that we have entered that fiasco again, what else are schools not going to be able to do? How about no holiday/season themed events period. No halloween, absolutely no christmas, no valentines day, etc. etc.

in order to fully appreciate the effect that this speech will have on school children, I read the first two paragraphs. now I'm texting under my desk and staring out the window.

Changed what? Didn't the text only get released today? How do you know what's been changed or removed?

The speech was not released until today. That was what was so stupid about the crazies freaking out before... they were doing it about a speech they hadn't even read or heard.

Of course we all knows how it goes: If the speech had bad things in it they would say "I WAS RIGHT, SEE?!", if it doesn't have bad things in it they say "IT USED TO, I KNOW IT, I WAS RIGHT" There's literally no way they would ever admit to being wrong.

edit: just read it. Very good speech IMHO. I love his message about personal responsibility.

actually it has been admited that they changed a few phrase's and such. Even before it was not bad at all. i never had a issue with what the prhase's was before.

But yeah one thing was changed.

it was not so much about the speech as much as it was about the outline sent out by the dept. of education q&a they were supposed to follow during and after the speech.

Now although I disagree with how Obama and the Democrats have handled many problems since he took office, I also disagree with those that are so concerned about what they perceive to be the possible "indoctrination" or brain washing of our children.

These children could not giv 2 shits about what this man has to say, as long as they get out of class they don't give a damn about the reason. Besides depending on what age group they fall into they will be more concerned about passing notes, getting home to play on their 360's, who is dating who, who is going to get laid this weekend and how shit faced they'll get.

The media has fueled this discourse and paranoid idiots have fed into it and fail to realize that many of their children have the attention span of a gnat.

Besides, if they actively engage their kids on a regular basis they probably would not be so fearful, it's those that depend on baby sitters and the piss poor education system, television and other parents to raise their kids that probably fear the most.

I may not agree with all of his policies, advisers, or methods, but the POTUS can damn well talk to school kids. The drama around this is moronic.

If he wants to address school kids, let him. If he wants to address school kids in a bid to have them "help" his personal presidency, he should go screw himself. Either way I think it's pathetic to give a speech like that, i'm sure he's got better thing to do than do something teachers and parents should already be doing.

Just makes the people who were raising a big stink about this look even more foolish.

All of that hooplah because we are "Afraid" we might hurt the feelings of a minority of people.

Like this hasn't been happening for decades about many, many issues... "We might offend 10 people, so we better stop doing this or that..." "We have to change the name of something because someone might get their little feelings hurt..." "We have to accept everyone and everything because they may be mad if we don't."

We are a nation of wussies...

I just finished reading Obama's speech and found nothing objectionable in
it other than "God bless you and God bless America" which might irritate atheists. In fact, it's filled with repeated messages of personal responsibility, a message the right wing would appreciate.

Now the right wing organizations that worked themselves up into a fit over nothing look like complete and utter morons, just like the Birthers. Did Obama anticipate that this would happen and lay a trap for them?

How exactly could school children be coerced into helping the presidents personal presidency?

And what is a personal presidency?

Perhaps they could convince their parents not to be dumb ass tea party republicans:laugh:

In his speech, Mr. Obama touches many aspects of the life of young students and the existing education pattern. He is convinced with the need of some major changes to be made in the present teaching and learning facilities. Indeed it was a good promising speech .

His "personal presidency" would be him being a president over himself, like... his own master.

I think that is a great ideal and i applaud you for realising that no one could help him with that.

No, it's just another case where they work hard at proving they're able to do that for themselves.
