Reposting because this is the most observant intelligent characterization of Texas I've seen in a long while. This would apply to a lot of conservative red states.
Can I have permission to steal?
feel free

Yup, when I see a maskless person now I just think "Motherfucking asshole."Let's start getting this right as progressives. Dumb is an excuse, these people are bad people. Let's learn from history, there are large swaths of populations that do or go along with bad shit, today's trumpers are those people.
@compuwiz1 I guess the commies have taken over Alabama?Sorry Texas, Alabama won't be joining you just yet. Our governor seems to care a little more about her state's people.

Gov. Ivey extends Alabama’s mask mandate through April 9
Governor Kay Ivey and State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris provide a COVID-19 news conference Thursday.www.waff.com
Not sure if April 9th is a good idea either, but it sure as hell is better than quitting now.
Can always be reextended, obviously. Good on Bama.Sorry Texas, Alabama won't be joining you just yet. Our governor seems to care a little more about her state's people.

I can't keep score. Red is communist or fascist?@compuwiz1 I guess the commies have taken over Alabama?
Is there a contest to see which Governor can kill the most residents of their state? I'd say Texas is the frontrunner.
So the short, and more accurate, answer to my question is --- nothing. There's nothing in the new EO that forbids you from doing anything you are currently doing. As a matter of fact it still strongly encourages people to wear face masks, so there's nothing for you to ignore.Abotts statement:
“With the medical advancements of vaccines and antibody therapeutic drugs, Texas now has the tools to protect Texans from the virus,” said Governor Abbott. "We must now do more to restore livelihoods and normalcy for Texans by opening Texas 100 percent. Make no mistake, COVID-19 has not disappeared, but it is clear from the recoveries, vaccinations, reduced hospitalizations, and safe practices that Texans are using that state mandates are no longer needed.”
The one where he’s says state mandates are no longer needed. So I’ll will be following the previous state mandate until it is actually no longer required.

The text in your post does not appear in the EO. You should read the EO, it's only a couple of pages.

Of course, not everyone will do that but there WILL be super spreader events because of Abbott's irresponsible EO. I am SO GLAD I do not live in Texas. I'm in CA. I'm in a high risk county but the positivity rate is barely over 2% right now. In Texas it's about 12.3%, and that's before Abbott's asinine edict has had time to change the statistics, and you better believe, rates are going to shoot up in TexasYet stores have already said they will no longer require masks. Your response is extremely dishonest when it comes to the practical effect on public health of Abbott’s actions. Masks are to protect others not yourself actions that reduce mask wearing and put people closer together (opening restaurants and bars to full capacity) will cause more deaths.
I can see how communism could happen in this country.
Next Alabama...
One of the most important parts of the mask mandate was the fact that it was a state MANDATE. Therefor some teenager working in a store or restaurant had THE LAW behind him when he had to tell some dumb fucks they need to obey the mandate or service would be refused. Having the ability to call police in this type of situation can make a big difference. Sure, the business can say that's it's "company policy", but that doesn't exactly have the same authority to it.
Rumor has it that HEB (massive texas grocer) is not going to *require* masks in order to prevent adult temper tantrums. One of the most important parts of the mask mandate was the fact that it was a state MANDATE. My favorite is still the guy being carried out of a grocery store by his son while screaming that everyone wearing a mask is a pussy.Rumor has it that HEB (massive texas grocer) is not going to *require* masks in order to prevent adult temper tantrums.
Not willing to give Gov credit for this because...@compuwiz1 I guess the commies have taken over Alabama?

I think they should "not require it," but also station a security dude next to every entrance, armed with mace, and a reminder that while mask compliance is not "required," those who personally choose not to wear the mask will be maced upon entry.
Chaplik, however, argued that the mandates are an overreaction and that society has managed to survive other viral outbreaks without masks.
For example, he cited HIV “that was going to wipe our global destruction of human bodies with AIDS.”
“We heard about that in the ’80s,” Chaplik said. “Yet no masks were required.”
Jesus christ almighty some people are fucking dumbArizona wants to join the other free states...and one lawmaker makes a VERY compelling argument...
Hell, he's right. At no ti e during the AIDS epidemic were masks even suggested or recommended...
