Ah, freedom of choice without government intervention. The bright side here is people have a choice. You can go out, as you want, but you assume all inherent risks. Those who are concerned about it can still mask up, or avoid the scene if they want. Again, it's about freedom of choice....something that is important to people. Don't like it? Stay home or mask up. Nobody telling you what you have to do.

What a load of crap. Putting on a god damn mask is such a small request to look out for everyone but all of these right wingers think the world revolves around them and they have no responsibility to anyone else. Masking up doesn't protect an individual much, it protects everyone else from the masked individual since it catches droplets right at the source, namely the masked person's mouth. Fucking conservatives have worms in their brains when they can't understand this one simple thing. I don't put on a fucking mask to protect myself, I put on a mask to protect you if I see you and I'm an asymptomatic carrier. You're such a chickenshit if you won't reciprocate.

Question..when you buy a new car do you immediately cut out the seat belts? You should, since that's the big bad government tellin you how to live your life, isn't it? How about school zone speed restrictions, pay attention to those? You shouldn't, after all it's up to the other folks to watch out when they're crossing the street, amiright? As you just said "You can go out, as you want, but you assume all inherent risks".

And what happens when Texas gets a bunch of new cases that leads to mutations that are not protected by the vaccines? What happens when the people not wearing the masks get their families sick? When they get healthcare workers sick? When they start crowding the hospitals again? Then it's no longer about personal consequences from personal responsibility. A pandemic is not a personal issue it's a public health issue. How blind do you have to be to not see it?

Solid right wing folks are just bad people. It's not that hard to understand.

the moral question of lying on the vaccine intake form that you're in group 1B when the governor has decided that @compuwiz1 should be allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants and if that results in others getting infected because only ted kaczynski can withdraw fully from society well that's just good old personal responsibility every man a fucking island.

You can't. I went to the Texas Governor's Mansion website and that's exactly what it says.
i did the same just to make sure it wasn't some fakery. it's there.

meanwhile, conservative texans i know responded "praise god!" to the announcement. sigh :(

also, the onion had a brilliant headline to go along with Abbott's announcement

Like I said, people can either go out or stay the fuck home, but a year + is enough! I can see how communism could happen in this country. Some of you guys don't mind being led by the nose and being ordered what to do. I'm not cut from that cloth. I like the idea of isolating the vulnerable and letting everyone else go about their lives.

I know someone who needs to be isolated from society as a danger to all those around him.

Btw you fucking moron it wouldn’t have been a year if dipshits like you acted like responsible rational humans to begin with. Mask mandates are not the thin edge of communism it’s fucking public health. And if everyone wore one correctly and consistently then we could have dramatically changed the course of this thing.

You and people like you are responsible for the fact that more than 500k Americans have died. See you in hell motherfucker.

But the rest of the people aren't able to go about their lives. They have to deal with maskless people potentially exhaling the virus by not wearing a mask.
The mask wearers are not protected in this manner. Masks are to protect others from possibly being infected by you or others.
To do otherwise is purely selfish. It means you don't give a FF about anybody under the guise of "personal freedoms" Bullshit.
To you maskless people, you are in the minority. But you get to get to determine if I can even go to a grocery store because now you assholes feel its your right to expose
me or other to your potential deadly breath? It's not your fucking right to do so.
Then tell us we can just stay home is just imbecilic.

For you to equate wearing a mask to communism, is beyond the pale. We are still on pace of killing/murdering more people than has ever occurred
in any event in the history of the US. 675,00 people died in the 1918 epidemic and odds are we will pass this before its over. Do you get that?
The. Worst. Deadly. Event. In.The. History. Of. The. United. States.
All of this continuing to kill more and more people over morons claiming "my freedom".

No, a year isn't enough. You do what is right until this is over for everyone. Until its safe for everyone to not risk dying by being near others.
If you people can't see that you are selfish assholes. A mask is the best way to slow/stop the virus. It's the least anyone can to for
their fellow citizens. The bare fucking minimum. Not to mention the vaccines are on their way. By the end of July we could have 70-80% of the population
inoculated and on our way to ensure herd immunity.

I think the thing is that all of these anti-mask governors are up for re-election in the coming years and they feel that playing up to the trump base will get them re-elected. It's like JUST DO WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT, while also adding THE PEOPLE WILL DO THE RESPONSIBLE THING. So these governors are trying to have it both ways to eliminate the mask mandates while claiming the people will still wear the masks. God only knows how these governors will spin this on the campaign trail. But here's the thing..... with the governors allowing the virus to continue to spread, the higher the risk for new variants to develop. Variants that can be immune to ANY CURRENT VACCINE. So these governors are actually putting EVERYONE at risk including those people THAT HAVE gotten the vaccine.

Joe Biden hit the nail on the head when Joe called this neanderthal thinking. Face it, the republican party ARE a bunch of neanderthals. They don't believe in science, they don't believe in climate change, yet they believe in idiotic conspiracy theories started by some idiot using a computer and living in mommy and daddy's basement. It is incredible when these trumpie governors and trumpie loyalist would believe in some post on some social media website where they have no idea who the person behind the post is or what their motivation could be. Oh sure trumpies.... CNN is fake news but some anonymous social media post by some unknown person(s) is real?

What are you going to do if you have a medical condition that requires you to adhere to specific guidelines for the rest of your life? After a year, you going to say a year+ is enough.. screw this, it's leading us to communism.... Bottom line is you are a fucking idiot, dumber that fence post and the shit the pigs splatter on it.

This has NOTHING to do with politics or communisms. It's 100% a health safety issue! Pull your head out of your ass!

I know, if you believe you have the right to endanger everyone around you, then we should have the right to shoot your ass in self defense, and/or have you charged with assault/attempted murder because you anti maskers are walking around willingly infecting those around you, which can lead to death to those individuals.

/rant ( I am just done with stupid people today)

How does wearing a mask invite communism? Enlighten us. Also how would wearing a mask stop you from doing what you need to do?

Are you sure this isn't just a selfish thing?

Abbot seems not as dumb as DeSantis, and that MS govna, but he's still way way too dumb to hold elected office.
