They still leave a hole in their logic that you can drive a truck through. Many anti-abortion people seem to be okay with allowing exceptions in anti-abortion legislation for cases of rape. If the fetus/child is innocent, how can it matter how it was conceived?

Fwiw, allowing an exception isn't OKing an abortion, though, no more than allowing people to carry guns means you're OK with violence.

They seem to simply be OK with allowing the choice in drastic circumstances, whereas in the case of consentual sex, they're not allowing it.

Abortion is a tricky one. You would never use this argument against someone who claimed that child rape should be legal because "some people just want that option." We have a vested interest in protecting children (and indeed, all our citizens) from those that would do them harm. So if you believe that life begins at conception, it's hard to rationalize letting people operate under the conflicting belief that life begins at birth and then aborting their fetus; it can't be defined as anything other than murder in your mind and consequently should never be acceptable. It's the sticking point in any abortion debate; regardless of the "live and let live" spirit of libertarianism, if you legitimately believe someone else is murdering an innocent person, you're not going to stand up for their right to do it because they believe it's OK. And it's inevitably where any conversation about abortion breaks down because the two sides are completely irreconcilable at that point.

FWIW, I'm pro-choice. But I can see things from the perspective of the pro-life side and I can see why the "logic" of abortion is 100% incompatible with their view. "If you don't like 'x,' don't do it, but let me if I want to" doesn't work when people think an innocent non-consenting person is being harmed by that activity.

Luckily what other people believe doesn't mean shit only what the law says and the law doesn't say a fertilized egg equals a person.

It is sad you murdered your own children because "you were not ready".

If there is a GOD, and I hope there is, I hope there will be a special place in hell just for murderers like you.

It's too bad you forced your first wife to go through with pregnancies for which YOU obviously weren't ready.

Since there is no way to prove/disprove the existence of a deity, I'm quite content with the thought that for the rest of your life you're in a hell of your own creation and nurturing, where you can daily remorse over how the children you weren't ready for treat you.

Geez dude, your opinion of what a child is varies considerably from others. You need to understand that. To me a clump of cells just isn't a child yet, aborting that process before it becomes a child isn't murder.

Where would people such as yourself be without a demographic to oppress?

Whether it is killing unborn children, sending jews to their death, sending native americans to reservations, owning slaves,,, etc, people such as yourself are a plague upon humanity.

I thought that you might be a decent person but just a little misguided, or simply just a different upbringing and different environment compared to me creating a different point of view. But now I wonder if you're shitty kids, your shitty job situation, your shitty outlook on everything, and your shitty political views might be so because you're just a shitty person.

I am a decent person, that is why I value life.

It is amazing to me that you believe in a 'compassionate' god and try to claim the moral high ground in these conversations, but just wished for someone to burn in eternal hell fire forever.

You made your choice. The unborn child had no choice.

Just as blacks had to choice to be sold into slavery, jews had to choice to go to the camps and native Americans had no choice to go to the reservations.

Take the moral high ground, speak for those who can not speak for themselves.

LOL cry moar plz.

Seriously dude get over yourself. I have zero regrets about my previous actions .

200 years ago you would probably have no regrets about owning and killing your slaves either.

So you are now equating a zygote to full grown human slaves? How much lead paint did you eat as a kid?

It's not about the fetus or zygote or whatever. People like TH need to control and punish people who behave sexually in ways he doesn't like.

It's funny/sad that he's always pathetically trying to compare people who disagree with him to nazis while he doesn't seem to understand how much he has in common with them.

If one truly believes that abortion is murder than there should be no exceptions.

This is simply not true. People are going to have abortions anyway, so knowing that (if you're a lawmaker), its best to give concessions to better regulate abortions -- not saying this is the logic behind it, but this is how to keep better control over what people are going to do anyway.

So you dissapprove of such restrictions that will be more likely to cause women to use unregulated abortion services.

I'm glad you disagree with the GOP on this issue, good to know ;)

I am not a Conservative anyway, politically speaking. I disapprove of forcing the rest of the country to keep pregnancies they don't want.

Sorry, if one truly believes that abortion is murder than one can not also believe that there can be exceptions.

I also think that if one believes abortion is murder than one should also be prepared to, after passing the appropriate law(s), prosecute the mother, doctor, and anyone else involved in the procedure, for murder.

It's either murder or it's not.

< rubs hands in glee >

Can't wait to prosecute women who flush away a fertilized but non-implanted egg with their monthly cycle for Manslaughter; Involuntary maybe but Manslaughter all the same.

Are you crazy? Is that your problem?

Nope, just being honest.

This has nothing to do with sex.

This is about protecting the civil rights of a certain demographic who can not protect themselves.

If you truly believe all people are created equal, then our rights are granted at the time of creation. Rights can not be subjective. Society can not say if you do this or that, then and only then are you entitled to your rights.

Being born is a subjective limitation on rights. It is no different than being white and voting, being a property owner, paying a poll tax,,, whatever.

How about this, you are only entitled to rights after:

You are born,
Go to college,
Serve in the military,
Are white,
Own property.

Only after you do all of those are you entitled to your rights? Does that sound ok to you? Of course not.

Your rights start at the time of creation. That is because all people are created equal. Blacks are not created any less important than whites, asians are no more important than any other race,,, etc.

It must suck for you that you can't work through the logic employed by the USSC in Roe v. Wade but I'll break it down for you:

A person receives their constitutionally protected rights when they are born -

A fetus (by definition) is neither a person nor, more importantly, born.

Hope that helps.

Oh it's definitely about punishing people who have sex in ways you don't like. You're constantly trying to use the state to punish women who have sex you don't like, to punish gays, etc, etc.

Like I said, you don't seem to realize just how much in common you have with the Nazis that you so frequently compare others to. I guess it's just like how burglars always have the most locks on their doors, huh.

You've used this stale argument before. You have provided nothing to show that a clump of cells is 'creation' and deserves protections or the same rights you and I have. That clump of cells has had as much conscious thought as the sperm cells that never make it outside a condemn or an egg that never gets fertilized.
