Ah yes. :(

I too wish I could work myself up into a froth about things inconsequential to my life. How I wish that I could rage at imagined slights perpetrated by cyclists or that mean girls were somehow disagreeing with my opinions somewhere on the internet. Or that people might have different opinions about current affairs or news. How I wish I had the energy and willpower to spend my time in this manner.

But alas its not to be for, really, I just cant seem to give a shit about that sort of thing. :(

You haven't lived until you have waged a crusade on the internet against a group of people who are different than you.

I'm pretty sure most of the people defending this chick and this lifestyle are fat themselves and obviously need excuses to feel good about themselves.

Do what you will, as long as it doesn't affect me, I guess enjoy those burgers and the following heart failure. The second you start blasting to the public that what is obviously a terrible thing is somehow 'OK' that's when you become a target, and why you are getting 'shamed'.

Nobody deserved to be shamed and called a fat whale and all sorts of shit like that. I can fit into 32" jeans so I'm not fat, if I was 1 size smaller I would have to shop in the teen department. It's one thing to dislike something, that's understandable and fine. But it's a whole other thing to shit all over a person because of something that doesn't even effect you. This woman isn't saying it's fine to be fat, she's saying if you're fat it's not the end of the world and you're not a horrible person. The angry virgins on ATOT are going to act like just that, angry virgins. It must suck to most of them that this "ugly fat whale" has a decent looking BF who loves her just the way she is. And they struggle to get laid at all.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Every ones different than me.

As opposed to most other models who make females starve themselves to the point they could die. That's healthy huh?
Why is it opposed to? It's the exact same issue, and the industry gets called out constantly for models being too skinny. So I see nothing but hypocrisy from people who praise this form of an unhealthy model, while railing against the other. It would appear that you support her being a model, but you haven't said it verbatim, so I'll withhold judgement.

her boyfriend, let's see your woman, also she signed with an international modeling agency and is making a good living so I'd say as far you saying she's not a winner, imho she's a much bigger one in life than you.

I never said that being runway model thin is healthy. I do think it is more healthy that being morbidly obese. There is a middle ground you know.

Why do I care what her boyfriend looks like? You gotta man crush or something? I do think my girlfriend is better looking than she is, not that it matters. Yeah she did sign with a modeling agency, and? Good living? Probably. You're right though... shes bigger than me. You don't know anything about what I do for a living or what I have done. By your logic, since Kim Kardashian has had a ton of pictures, has modeled and "making a good living", shes a winner too. If that's the case, your morals are questionable.

It is not fat shaming. She's fat, and I called her that. Accepting being obese and not doing anything about it is terrible. I agree with being comfortable in your own skin, etc. Not everyone is the built the same and that's just life. But this whole movement of accepting being obese and not trying to be healthier is just wrong. Medical insurance has risen through the roof, big reason is because of obese people. Being healthy leads to an overall better life. Live longer, have less health issues, you can actually play with your child at a park without passing out, etc. Celebrating being obese is the wrong message to send to the younger generation.

She may very well be a great person, does charity work whatever. I am not slamming her in that manner at all, no character attacks. I just don't think it is right to celebrate being very fat and unhealthy.

In your weight loss thread you mentioned you've lost 157 pounds and that you're still 219. I would say that it's the person who has been pushing 400 pounds that doesn't know much about serving sizes. You seem to have learned recently how to count calories, measure portion sizes and lose weight, but I would bet that Elevenpog has known how to do that for most of his adult life. His calorie counts are in the ballpark of the actual calories of the food he's listed, and he's absolutely right when he says the average person would have a hard time eating more than 2500 calories of real food in a day.

No I've been counting them for 10 yearsaid and I'm to the point to where I can estimate most things pretty closely And I called bullshit on his 100 calories per bowl of cheerios.

But fwiw I looked it up and its 110 calories per 1 cup without milk. Now who the fuck eats cereal without milk?
Now add about 1 cup of skim milk and you have 200 calories per bowl of cheerios.

If he knew what he was talking about he would speaking in terms of specific servings as realistically prepared. Not pulling numbers out of his ass.

And just because some is or was heavy doesn't mean they don't know about calories or portion sizes.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
Skim all the way.

Unsweetened almond milk is way better than skim. I was on skim milk for years; switched to Almond Fresh unsweetened almond milk a few years back and have never looked back.

What's with all the posts in this thread? Looking at the OP, this seems like a boring topic. Did some other discussion come up to generate all these posts?

Tried almond milk before. It tasted OK, but I felt kinda strange after having a big bowl of cereal.

true, but it still comes down to being specific and realistic about portions and how your food is prepared. It's pretty much impossible to keep a "bowl" of cereal at 100 or less calories.

Another thing I remember on his list was 300 calories for a sandwich which again is not easy to keep a sandwich under 300 calories when a typical slice of bread is 100 calories and a typical slice of cheese is around 80. So you have a cheese sandwich with no condiments at 280 calories.

Use low calorie bread and thin slices and you can cut that down to about 140 calories at which point you can add a tbsp of mustard for 5 calories and probably several or 6 slices of ham or turkey to make a 300 calorie sandwich.

But yeah you can forget about adding anything like salami, bologna, etc.

I'm going to disagree about 'nobody' deserving to be called a whale.

If you eat so much that you put on 300 pounds and become a whale that can't support itself, you should be scolded and shamed. That's disgusting behavior and it absolutely affects other people.

You're like a guy who is good at math who doesn't understand more advanced math, and since you don't understand the people talking about advanced math, you think they don't know what they are talking about. So you think you're right because you don't understand how much more right the people criticizing you are.

Problem is, that's EXACTLY what she's saying.

I want every fat girl reading this to say 'Hell yeah, I'm taking the escalator. I WILL eat this burger
We as society need to let go of this notion that we should have healthy skin, and be able to walk at a reasonable pace for 5 minutes without sweating.

She's lying to herself and everyone else. From another interview:

She tells commentators who are critical of her size that she's very active, has a trainer, works out at least four days a week, swims, hikes, and walks.

"I never sit down. If I'm not shooting twelve hours a day, I'm out doing errands and going to meetings," Holliday said.

"I see a lot of negative comments as well, and I ignore those. I know she's healthy and active," said MiLK Model Management's Shillinglaw. "We're all built differently. She goes hiking, she's in love, she has a son, she has a gorgeous husband. Maybe people can lose weight if they walked more and ate less, but it's so easy to say that. Everyone has their things in life.”

Bull. SHIT. If she is truly doing all that and staying that large, then she is absolutely stuffing her face the rest of the time.
There is no way in hell that she "works out at least 4 days a week", and swims/hikes/walks on a regular basis.
That's just a blatant lie. Going swimming a few times a year, or on a hike once a year, doesn't count.
And going home and sitting in bed, knocking down ice cream and Twinkies,(or some other food that she eats too much of) which is quite obviously what she does, totally negates any alleged working out.

That's about like all the fat people who say "that diet didn't work for me, I tried it and didn't lose any weight". Well, you didn't follow it, or you'd have lost weight, end of story. You are lying if you said you actually did what a diet told you to and you didn't lose weight. Just an outright lie.

So she's lying to everyone and saying that "this is just my body type". Sorry honey, but this isn't ANYONE'S body type, unless they work at making it that way.

Being morbidly obese like she is really is the same concept as how an NFL lineman maintains 340lbs. He eats, eats, eats. But those guys have to eat more than she does, because they're constantly burning it off.

She's doing the same thing....a body doesn't naturally store that much fat unless you're over-feeding it. Which is exactly what she's doing.

If she was actually being honest, then instead of trying to celebrate her morbid obesity, she'd be on a food show saying "I love to eat, and you can tell that, and here are all the the things I love to eat. Eating is my hobby". THAT would be honest.

We absolutely should not be telling people like this to "become comfortable with your body", which is essentially telling them to stay like they are.

Should we be teasing them about being fat? No, but they damned sure should know that it's an unacceptable thing to do to yourself, and is VERY unhealthy.

And she's also lying about what her doctor tells her. Either her doctor is totally incompetent, or she's lying. No doctor would NOT tell her that she needs to lose some weight.

Everything you mention about all the lies being told is exactly why 'fat acceptance' is horrible. It's a lie. The fat acceptance movement is trying to push a lie on the general public and tell them it's the truth. And they want so desperately for it to be the truth that they started a 'movement'.

Exactly, and the media is now participating in this lie by printing articles like this, that are essentially celebrating someone's choice to be unhealthy. Except this person happens to have a pretty face.

What they should be celebrating is formerly fat people who put in the work and lost the weight and became healthy.

How old is this girl? 20's? You can get away with living an unhealthy lifestyle when you're young, but it WILL come back to haunt you later on, and when she decides to lose that weight in her 40's, when she is diabetic and her joints are failing, it's too late.

That's when the "I was young and stupid, don't do what I did" articles will be written. But how many others see articles like this and decide "yes, I AM happy with being fat, I like to eat. It worked out for this girl, so why not me?", and never change? THAT is why it's bad for people like this to be celebrated.

If they are going to celebrate the so-called "plus size" women, then they need to be using people like Christina Hendricks. She's a little overweight, but curvy. By normal standards, sure...she could lose a few pounds, but it's not going to hurt her. THAT is closer to a "normal woman" than this "model" is. Tell people that if you're morbidly obese, a figure like that is what you should be shooting for, not like some skinny super model.

Don't be telling them "you are beautiful like you are, keep eating those Twinkies" like it's okay. It's not.

The funny thing is there is very little fat shaming in this country. Other than celebrities who are mocked if they put on a few pounds, most adults are overweight and so careful not to be as nasty as they could be because it affects them too.

What I mean is: go to japan for example. You will experience some fat shaming there. In the US we are all so damn fat we laugh about it and most of us, despite wanting to lose weight, don't seem particularly ashamed of ourselves. It is the same reason a man and wife will get fat together. As long as they are both in their new disgusting lifestyle together it is okay.

It's really the opposite of fat shaming here (particularly for women.) Look on facebook, or in any office with a substantial amount of women. A fat girl posts a disgusting picture and her whole whale pod says how "beautiful" and "voluptuous" she looks. A new skinny girl shows up in the office and all the fat girls are telling her to eat a sandwich, and start bringing baked goods by her desk, encouraging her to eat handfuls of M&Ms, etc. They're crab bucketing each other constantly.

Fat shaming doesn't exist here because it is socially acceptable to be fat. God forbid someone make a comment publicly how someone should lose weight.
Skinny shaming on the other hand is so totally out of control it is ridiculous. You can say all you want to anyone who is skinny that they should eat more, etc.

If I was a skinny women I would be outraged at crap like this model, who is advocating for unhealthy lifestyles while I am getting beaten down for being healthy/skinny.

When I was younger, I ate like a horse. Couldn't gain an ounce. Big lunch, usually fast food or pork BBQ, crap out of the snack machine all day, started drinking Pepsi first thing in the morning and drank 5-6 of those a day, big suppers, and ate candy bars in bed with milk, then turned off the light and went to sleep.

I agree, the person you responded to doesn't know what he's talking about. Now I eat not even half of what I just described, and struggle with weight. Metabolism slows down when you get older.
My Dad used to just shake his head when I'd sit down before bed and eat an entire container of Oreos or some other kind of cookies, and never gain an ounce. It is definitely possible.

Goddamit, for the last time, of course genetics, age and a variety of other factors are involved. THAT STILL DOES NOT ABSOLVE THE INDIVIDUAL OF BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR LOWERING THEIR INTAKE. Bully for any person who can eat 5000 calories and not gain weight. Clearly that isn't true for fatties. They need to cut back, and stop trying to tell everyone else that fat is beautiful just because they're too stupid and/or weak to understand the simple relationship between consumption and weight gain.
