Just looking at his waste basket in his workspace I see the wrappers from a tastykake pie, poptarts, 3 coke cans, doritoes, and reeses peanut butter cups.

Of The top of my head thats at least 1600 calories.

You are assuming. You have no idea what he eats when not in front of you.

Again you have no idea what you're talking about. There are lots and lots of people like this. He's not alone by any stretch of the imagination. I've worked beside him. His non-break snacking is easily 2000 calories with the sodas taken into consideration.

the average American consumes about 3500 calories per day.

For a guy demanding that science solve his problems in this very thread, you don't seem very scientific.

Are you suggesting that his body is destroying matter? Destroying energy? Which is it?

Enjoy some free science, on me.

^ her metabolism is probably at a stand still. The day she starts to not be able to do that for whatever reason, she's going to balloon up. Eating 700 cals a day just isn't healthy.

And I'm glad to see this thread has spiraled out of control in typical ATOT fashion. All it takes is a fat chick trying to be hot and everybody's head explodes.

Yeah, I imagine she's suffering from some sort of long term malnutrition. She tans a lot too. Your garden variety basic bitch. And when she drinks she gets super combative. The kind of chick that tries to get you into fights with other people.

The real point is though, that I got it while the gettin' was good. She has a great thigh gap (my favorite part of a woman) and she still likes to hook up when I'm in town. And most of all I admire her eating discipline.

And their average resting metabolism is 1800 or so. Hence, obesity.

And I doubt that there are lots of people like this. If it's genetics, they would have died off a few thousand years ago.

Honestly, your anecdotal case study about this guy doesn't really help your argument because it lacks specifics and leaves too much up to speculation. Instead, help us understand your position by finding someone who you think is similar who had an actual case study done on them.

true enough but these people do exist.

You are assuming. You have no idea what he eats when not in front of you.
It's his workspace and hes pretty much the only guy who uses that basket. I workbeside him everyday and it's the same crap he eats every day. A lady comes around at 9am and empties them all so the stuff is all from today since 9am.

Besides. Again science is about results and so far it has failed to produce them in the long term. You can shout motivation and hate on fat people all you want and it's not going to make them skinny. It says alot when reducing a person's stomach to the size of an apple (or whatever) is the most effective weight loss treatment we can come up with and even then a person's chances of gaining it all back are around 70%. That's pretty bad.

I don't have an absolute answer for it and I'm happy to admit it. I've been up and down the scale several times in my life with each attempt being more successful than the last, but I'm fully aware of the struggles and pain that obese people go through. And even though I'm in good shape now, I recognize that I'm one relapse away from being in their shoes once again. If you want to talk about laziness 10 years ago I was working 7 12 hour days on third shift and still found time to go to the gym 3 days a week and I lost weight. The last time I lost the weight I had nearly given up and I was even telling myself that. But I was approaching 30 and I was beginning to feel the effects of obesity in my joints and I knew that it could be my last chance to lose weight with ease as it becomes more difficult as you age. I tried for weeks to self motivate until I broke down and had the doctor prescribe me phentermine which gave me the motivation I needed. With this I took another look at my failed attempts and realized that sweets were my problem so I decided to abstain from them entirely which is the best thing that I had ever done. No doctor or nutritionist, etc. ever suggested this to me and I had no knowledge of "sugar addiction" which very likely was the issue in hindsight. I've been off the pill for a year and I've kept the weight off (plus a few more lbs) since then and for the first time in my life sweets no longer bother me. I can eat my lunch right beside a box of cupcakes and not be tempted like I was. Sure the thought might cross my mind, but that's all it is. Just a thought. So now I think to myself what if I hadn't thought to abstain from sweets. Most of my friends thought it was a bad idea. I just knew I had to do something and I decided to look at it like a drug problem and tackle it like one.

The first 3 months were brutal even on the pill especially considering I made the decision to do so right before the holidays, but I'm fully convinced that it's the best decision I had ever made in my life.

Personally I don't know what everyone else's problem is, but there is definitely other factors involved with obesity that aren't being fully investigated.

It's not just about hating on fat people. It's not even hate per se, but reminding them that being morbidly obese is shameful.

The biggest motivator though isn't necessarily to convince fat people to lose weight, but to stop people from getting fat to begin with by reminding them it's not ok.

With alcohol, preaching against it's use is not just to shame alcoholics, but to remind everyone else they'll end up like the alcoholic if they make the same choices.

Well it's nice that we asked you to preach to us all.
However would we manage without you busybodys concerned citizens?

A healthy body is attractive. That is not remotely healthy. The anorexic runway models that are not much more than skin and bones aren't healthy either, and therefore aren't attractive.

After years of being turned away from castings, size 26 (US size 22) Tess was snapped up by London-based MiLK modelling agency in January

That made me laugh a bit. "Snapped up", sure, failed for years at being a model and then finally got a crap gig is not being "snapped up".

And 88keys, Bradley, Welsh, etc, you're all wrong and misinformed.

Weight gain is one of the major side effects of Prednisone. Not only does it act as an immunosuppressant, Prednisone also slows the metabolism, including: a decrease in the conversion of insulin from glucose and the overall production of thyroid hormones. In some ways, the same metabolism changes happen as we age.

Prednisone also dramatically slows normal healing and increases water bloat, making it more difficult to recover from strenuous exercise.

I've seen this single variable take healthy, active, motivated, slender people with excellent nutrition and transform them into overweight sluggards within months. And that's just the interaction of one drug among millions, including all serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as Zoloft, Celexa, Paxil etc.

That made me laugh a bit. "Snapped up", sure, failed for years at being a model and then finally got a crap gig is not being "snapped up".

OK. But you had better not have pencil thin arms, pointy elbows and a permanent place on your gaming couch. Because I have forgotten more about exercise and nutrition than many.

Well, I don't look like Zivic, but I also don't look like this model. I'd say I'm 16-17% BF right now at 202lbs since I'm too lazy to eat completely clean currently and am trying to add to my lifts. I've also got a messed up neurological/muscular thing going on in my back causing me near permanent discomfort so I can't do squats or ride my bikes at all. So I'd definitely be able to cut weight faster if I could actually do what I love and ride my mountain bike.

About what? I'm just saying that there's no need to be an arsehole about things.

We're plenty justified in being aresholes about this body image thing. It's setting an awful precedent and will ruin thousands of otherwise healthy lives by pretending that this is an acceptable way to live.

It's not.

I don't care what any individual does, but I don't like the push for "acceptance" of fatties. It's like advocating shooting heroin. Do it if you like, but don't tell eveyone how natural, and good it is. There should be some level of shame involved.

I guess I don't really care one way or the other that much, but man she looks a LOT heavier than 250 pounds to me, especially if she is 5'5". 250 stone maybe.

Lol. No one's going to lose weight just because you're acting like an arsewipe.

I don't care if poeple lose weight or not. I just don't want to pay for their health care. I think self induced problems should not be paid for by the general public. Nor am I going to change my mind and think fat is beautiful. Especially on me, for sure.

Went to Scotland ~12 years ago. It was very apparent that Americans were/are fat compared to them.

Plenty of people might gain weight though if we don't shut down this fat acceptance thing.

think of the kids!
Really. Fat people don't care what you think, particularly if you're being a dick about how you express it.
If you're as fat as this model in the OP, you probably won't manage well at all.
I manage fine thanks.

Huh? All I saw were sheep and that national flower.

:p

If that's still true from when I was there then America has added another .5 body weight as compared to them. I think I saw 1 person that that was obese. The food portion sizes were way smaller. Even at the fast food places.

Eat more Haggis.
