You have no idea how to count calories.

This goes back to what I said earlier that 99% of people don't know a thing about a healthy diet.

You need to pay more attention to serving sizes.

Rofl. You're right. I totally guessed that list and didn't look them up them up at all or even consider that those values could be affected by something as crazy as *gasp* serving sizes! Gee golly wiz you're smart mister!

You're a hopeless old man. Just admit you're fat and running out of excuses for your laziness.

willpower and motivation aren't very scientific terms.

At the end of the day you still need long term results and they don't exist in the general population.

There is more to the issue and science will eventually figure it out and you and your like minded friends will be proven wrong.

dah fuck are you talking about?

and who gives a fuck if willpower and motivation aren't scientific terms? wtf does that have to do with anything?

When you're wrong calling out and acting like an arsehole doesn't make you suddenly right.

It just makes you an arsehole who's still wrong.

I've counted calories for a long time and I can assure you that 4 bowls of cheerios is well in excess of 400 calories.

Without googling. One serving is 3/4 cup and is 110 calories without milk which makes for a rather small bowl of cheerios.

Tess is not curvy; she is just blubber.

A real curvy model is Ashley Graham:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdyQlPokuvw

ohhh, baby!!!!

:awe:

She falls into the over weight category but I think in the generally accepted range for the average person. Chunky and should lose weight but the norm as some would say. She should shed some pounds but could probably live a long fairly healthy life. Probably some joint issues over the long term but normal.

And some of those thyroid disorders cause weight loss, not gain.

Very, very rarely does a thyroid disorder make a healthy person fat.

Anybody that's obese that says "oh its my thyroid" is either delusional or misinformed.

In almost all cases, their thyroid is messed up BECAUSE they are obese.

Wrong. She is morbidly obese, medically speaking.

You people are obviously very sad and pathetic in the sense that you have to rage out your anger and hate on other people for how they live their lives. if I were as miserable and hateful as any of you people are inside I'd go lay on some railroad tracks and wait for the next train.

There's more to life than hating On the Internet. ..just saying

So you expect science to provide you with a scientific explanation of why people are unwilling to control their caloric intake and exercise? You're just looking for a new crutch. Someone or something else to blame other than yourself.

Food is more processed, calorically dense, cheaper and more readily available than ever in the United States. Combine that with a lack of willpower and you get fat people. Exercise plays a fairly minor role for most people. You can't outrun your fork.

I'd recommend reading The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite by Dr. David Kessler, as well as Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss.

I do a lot of reading on the subject, because I actually do like to help people lose weight. That's why it drives me nuts to have morbidly obese people spreading lies and misinformation while attempting to justify their own poor choices by changing society rather than improving themselves.

It is really telling that you and so many others assume that I'm a fatty simply because my opinion differs from yours.
You know I've helped others lose weight myself and my personal experiences and experiences with others have taught me that everyone is different. What works me may or may not work for someone else.

you're trying to apply blanket statements on everyone but yet you fail to explain why some people can eat like hogs and not gain a pound And others have to eat like a bird to maintain the same body. I have a coworker who is 5'10" and 140lbs max and he easts constantly and it's all garbage. I used to eat like that and he's easily consuming well over 4000 calories per day. hes not a fitness nut he plays video games most of the time. How is he burning over 4000 calories per day. He must be to maintain his weight.

I know that very few people who endeavor to lose a significant amount of weight have the 'will power' to do it And even less of them have the will to do it in the long term.

you can shout willpower all you want but the results aren't there. maybe it's a crutch maybe it's noThe but that's not relevant. you can solve any problem by saying "well if we all just did ____ everything would be okay". If everyone paid attention behind the wheel and followed the rules there would be no car accidents. But we're not perfect and we don't live in a perfect world. telling people to pay attention in order to reduce accidents would be about as effective as telling people to get off their assets to combat obesity.

When something isn't working, it's time to look at alternatives.

If you have any science background at all, you know this is impossible. I mean, otherwise please, I absolutely implore you, get this man to your nearest university's physics department immediately. The secrets of his biochemistry could solve the world's energy problems, eradicate global hunger and shepherd in an era of lasting world peace.

The reality is that the portions that he's consuming aren't as big as you think they are. There are tons of people who don't work out, eat mostly garbage and are skinny. They just don't eat that much.

I dated a girl in Dallas that is smoke-show hot, and hasn't worked out in years because she hates to sweat. She's been on a 700 calorie a day diet since she was 20 years old and she tracks it religiously. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays she usually doesn't eat because she knows she'll get most of her calories from alcohol.

Oh I see. When someone is skinny it's due to a genuine disorder that is outside of their control, but when someone is obese it's simply because they are lazy and they lack will power.

^ her metabolism is probably at a stand still. The day she starts to not be able to do that for whatever reason, she's going to balloon up. Eating 700 cals a day just isn't healthy.

And I'm glad to see this thread has spiraled out of control in typical ATOT fashion. All it takes is a fat chick trying to be hot and everybody's head explodes.

My bro eats ~4k calories/day. Has a local lady make all of his meals. But he is working a crap ton of hours/day plumbing. And when he's not working, he's working. He never slows down. Eff that.

Again you have no idea what you're talking about. There are lots and lots of people like this. He's not alone by any stretch of the imagination. I've worked beside him. His non-break snacking is easily 2000 calories with the sodas taken into consideration.

the average American consumes about 3500 calories per day.

there's a difference between 3500 shitty calories and 3500 quality calories.

However, I want to point out that your flat number "2000 calorie" statements about your friend are a giveaway that you really don't know what his intake is. You're guessing which is why you can't say anything more specific than '2000'.

And their average resting metabolism is 1800 or so. Hence, obesity.

And I doubt that there are lots of people like this. If it's genetics, they would have died off a few thousand years ago.

Honestly, your anecdotal case study about this guy doesn't really help your argument because it lacks specifics and leaves too much up to speculation. Instead, help us understand your position by finding someone who you think is similar who had an actual case study done on them.
