Cybertruck Sales Are Dead in the Water

Crazy that the Hummer EV outsold it lol. What's weird is how few Rivians were sold...I see those 10x as much as CT's where I live!

Overall, the Cybertruck is quickly losing ground in the electric truck space, where pricetags are often north of $100,000. It's being outsold by the GMC EV Hummer, of which 4,306 were sold in the second quarter, a promising 53.9 percent bump from last year, per Cox's latest numbers.

A more conventional EV truck, the Chevrolet Silverado, is also trending upward with a 39.2 percent boost, though it remains behind with 3,056 sales. Meanwhile, the Ford F-150 Lightning, the best-seller in this category, saw its sales fall by 26.1 percent, down to 5,842 units sold. Making the Cybertruck look good, however, is the Rivian R1T, which is clinging on to a paltry total of 1,752 units sold, which is barely more than half the sales from Q2 2024.

Rivian surprises me too. I've seen more than the CT, and it looks like a pretty decent truck for the suburban crowd.

I have easily seen 10x more Rivians than CT's, which is surprising based on how few they've sold! Very popular here in the tri-state area!

I can't vouch for how many I've seen, cause I don't find vehicles that interesting to pay particular notice(aside from the CT that rapes your eyes. You can't miss that POS), but I've seen a fair amount.

Is that a Soul? I liked the boxy vehicles that were popular(still are?) years ago. Never sat in one, but they look comfortable. Even if I didn't need a truck, I'd still want something with an upright posture, and don't want to feel like I'm climbing out of manhole to get out(looking you you fucking POS Malibu...)

You should test-drive a Maverick:

Not in the market, but I'd consider it. Downsides are unibody, and crewcab only. Crewcabs are hard to get away from though. I like extended cabs, but they're almost extinct. It's cause of all the people buying trucks that don't need trucks. Need something to fit all the kids, cause the first thing I think of when thinking trucks, it's a load of kids inside :^S

I own one of each and to be fair both vehicles have their own strengthens and weaknesses. I could totally see @lxskllr leaning more toward a Maverick. It's a great little truck and while it might have the crew cab and a short bed it is very capable for what it is.

This is still one of the most incredible "marketing fail" stories I've ever seen:

1. Polarizing design

2. Missing features at the final design & price ballooned ($120k at launch)

3. Negative political branding

Hopefully the Slate makes it!!
