Maybe I’m behind the times but I thought that is true of all cars. Driving off the dealer lot knocks 20% or more off the value of a vehicle. At up to 35% depreciation after a year.
What a deal!

According to the article, new trucks depreciate 20% in the first year. The swastitruck dropped 35% because it's special, I suppose.Maybe I’m behind the times but I thought that is true of all cars. Driving off the dealer lot knocks 20% or more off the value of a vehicle.
According to the reporting, 35% is likely to be optimistic. The true offer is going to be even worse. 🤣According to the article, new trucks depreciate 20% in the first year. The swastitruck dropped 35% because it's special, I suppose.
"As reported by Electreck, Tesla is offering just $65,400 in trade-in value—a depreciation of nearly 35% in a year. Pickup trucks typically depreciate around 20% in the first year."
So you spend a hundred grand on a truck, another couple thousand on custom racks, and you end up with a truck that has about half the utility of a $40k F150.This guy just increased the truck's value by making it actually useful for work!
Honestly not that bad of an idea even for regular modern trucks, to get around the short bed limitations. Could stick some full 16' lengths of lumber up there.

I wonder what he bolted it to? Isn’t everything between the frame and the panels plastic? This guy just increased the truck's value by making it actually useful for work!

federal subsidy also going bye-byeTo be fair, 20k is a misnomer. For 20k you get a shell, doors and wheels. Probably most will be at 30k+

CT does have mount points. I don't know their load rating though. It is more for passenger roof rack as opposed to truck racks which uses stake pockets.I wonder what he bolted it to? Isn’t everything between the frame and the panels plastic?

For now... 😛I actually saw a CT towing a travel trailer this afternoon! (and all the parts and pieces looked to be still attached!)
Looks decentI wonder how well the glue holds up to time, especially compared to welding. Thermal cycling, vibration, and so forth...
Interesting fix. 14k is not a bad price for that repair.
