Just explaining the differences in failover system implementation. Very neat technology! Kinda wish it had Crab Walk tho!

I judge based off 2 factors:

1. History
2. Currently-available features

As it stands today, from having used it myself, Supervised FSD is incredible in practice, but is nowhere near the capabilities promised on the timeline promised. The stock is still vastly over-priced & subject to constant pump & dump cycles from the PR hype system. Waymo has self-driving cars on the road right now, today, whereas Tesla just cancelled the CT Extended Battery pack (vaporware) & cancelled the Autosteer feature on non-FSD trucks (bait & switch). Regarding self-piloting Tesla cybercabs, as the saying goes, "I'll believe it when I see it" lol.

Some heavy equipment, such as rough terrain cranes and forklifts have had 4 wheel and crab steering going back even farther than that.

Quadrasteer was steering by wire as well no?

The Quadrasteer system was electronically controlled by two sophisticated microprocessors, enabling it to behave differently depending on vehicle speed and driving mode.
It was particularly useful for those who tow boats, fifth wheels, or other large equipment.

How is it confusing? Q50 had (not sure if it is still used) SbW on the front axle, GM Quadrasteer had it on the rear axle. Tesla is the first to have both SbW on both axels and AWS in one road legal vehicle.

The confusion was coming from you throwing out the Q50 which is SBW on a front axle vehicle then you brought up Quadrasteer which is a rear axle that is SBW. I was just having a hard time keeping up with you that is all.

Quadrasteer was AWS, implemented with rear axle SbW .
 
Oh, lordy, where is the US government to lend a helping hand? The ICE team really could use a vehicle or 2...or 1 billion worth oh swasticars...
