No, because most of the people I know, talk to and communicate with have working brains.

Perhaps some of the pro-veggies here would like to answer that?

If someone close to me was i that condition. I would take care of them not kill them.

Guess that makes me weak.

She responds the same way when they place her in front of a wall for 3 hours and no one else is in the room. There goes that theory.

What are you talking about? How does that change taking care of someone?

What theory? Hello is this thing on?

My taking care of her would be to stop torturing her and let her pass away. She has no consciousness, only reflexes. Her mind is trapped and isolated from the rest of the world - no communication going out or in. Can you imagine being in that state for 14 years? And you want to keep her there for as long as her body functions? That's not taking care of someone, that's torture.

Sounds like the guy in Metallica's "One".

Barbaric and disgusting sounds more likely...I'm wondering if anyone in that family (parents or the sister) have any working brains...seeing as they've said that they would've ignored her wishes and would saw her limbs off and perform open heart surgery to keep the corpse animated, it doesn't seem like it.

Where is the flood of Federal Judges falling all over themselves in the rush to take this case ?

Maybe they see it for what it is - pandering to their Radical Conservative base, without whom
the GOP would be a dead issue - they have to have the Extremists to gain votes & money.

It comes down to 15% - 20% well organized extremists forcing their way, buying the influence - and flauting it. (Or else ! - do it our way or we'll cut you off too.)

If that Federal judge rules against what the Repukes want, no matter the reason, they'll be thrown off the bench.

good read:
http://www.nationalreview.com/editorial/editors200503210909.asp

seems like the evidence that her brain is liquified isn't as solid as many here would believe

"Terri Schiavo has had no MRI or PET scan. Only a CT scan has led some neurologists to conclude that her cerebral cortex has liquefied; other neurologists dispute the possibility of reliably making that inference from CT scans. Many of the initial determinations of fact under Judge Greer relied on the testimony of Dr. Ronald Cranford. He is certainly a medical expert; but he is also a right-to-die zealot who advocates the removal of feeding tubes for patients with Alzheimer's dementia."

Want to know why most Americans are against this abuse by the legislative branch? Because the true goal of the radical "Republicans" who are using this woman as a political football is easily recognized for what it truly is:

The Schiavo Case and the Islamization of the Republican Party

Only two more places to go. 11th circuit and then the Supreme Court.

Though really Bush isn't powerless, he could march an army brigade down to the hospice and reinsert the feeding tube. Not like the courts can do anything but issue more opions saying Bush was wrong. That'd be an interesting thing to happen.

And this is why my SO and I both have living wills so that neither of us would ever be kept alive by machine in a persistent vegetative state like this.

What a tragedy... all I can say is that a lot of people who claim to have good intentions (on both sides of the argument) should be ashamed of themselves.
It's all well and good to claim to fight for life but death is a natural part of life, and (to the Christians) part of God's plan. If you can't accept that, that can only be because you have not yet accepted God's plan. 'nuff said.

It's comments like that that usually keep me a safe distance away from P&N. Do you really believe the people opposed to Congress stepping in in a case like this do so because they have a deep-seated desire to see a long-suffering woman die?

Hopefully you'll end up like Mrs. Schiavo, and then your parents will keep you alive much longer.

Don't know if it's true, but Chris Matthew's was saying on Hardball that the Schindler's have said they would be fighting to keep their daughter alive even if she had a written living-will expliciting stating she would not want to live in the condition she is in now

If that's true.....some parents.

The parents also argued in court that if Terri is allowed to die this way, she'll be punished by God and send to hell. This belief, while absurd to hold and more absurd to actually argue in court, leads me to believe that Terri's parents believe her wish to die in this situation is legit, and they're trying to "save" her since she can't retract those statements, they believe she'll be responsible for her own death = suicide and go to hell.

Actually the more people are finding facts about this case...its going to cause the Dems many seats in 2008.
The Democrats have been largely quiet on this issue, and really don't have much to point to in terms of their opposing Republican control of Congress.

Most people will forget about this story the moment Terri passes on.

I can make unsubstantiated claims too:

The more people learn about this case, the more Repubs will lose seats to Dems.

Im going to be discussing this case with our top doctor here today at the hospital. I will let everyone know what happens.

Unless he physically examined Terri Schiavo, I could care jack sh*t what happens.
