sorry, i get some of my news from the Freerepublic. and when this first hit, everyone jumped and point at terrorist attack. and they were right this time.

"what’s stunning is that the White House would admit this was a terrorist attack. For the last six years, the government has bent over backwards assuring us that everything that smells suspiciously like terrorism on our soil isn’t really terrorism."

Abso-fucking-lutely the right thing to do. Way to go Obama administration.
We SHOULD be downplaying anything that smells of terrorism.

Why? Because if we don't the terrorists WIN.

It's simple. The terrorists want us to live in fear and change our political system and way of life. When you act like the Bushies did and cry "terrorists want to eat your babbies" every fucking day, you have played right into the terrorists hands. And when you cry "terrorist" to discard the Constitution and basically change the rights of Americans the terrorists win.

We should be doing everything prudent to stop the terrorists. And in very, very rare circumstances, we should go beyond prudent. But when you use fear and hate to strip Americans of their rights and use fear and hate as a political tool the terrorists win.

Which is why Bush the moron played right into their hands.
Thankfully we have President now with brains who cares more for our country than for partisan politics.

Perhaps the difference is the Fort Hood attacker had a known history and a connection to the people he killed. Which gave him motivations that trying to kill a planeload of people you don't know a different baseline.

The Fort Hood attack could be called terrorism in some ways. Motivation and reasoning have yet to be truly confirmed, but quite a few firm links between that Major and Al Qaeda in some way definitely existed, as apparently he had been in contact with some people.

Some people, well at least one of those people he may have been in contact with, has been reported as a kill in that Yemen strike.

I'm sorry for turning this into a political thread. I just ran to the gas station and heard a report that one of the passengers jumped on this guy to try to stop him. Glad someone with some stones was on the plane.

I was wrong for critiquing Obama for being so quick to call this terrorism because it definitely sounds like this was. I do stand by my statement that Fort Hood should have been called terrorism.

The bottom line is that we can never let our guard down. There will always be people that will want to harm innocent people to try to further their radical beliefs.
