No... but it just seems like islamic extremist perform these crimes more often than not. I could be wrong
Depends upon what you mean by "more often than not". There've been 3, including Orlando yesterday, mass shootings known to be driven by Muslim/Islamist radical beliefs since Jan. 2015. There have been 10 mass shootings during that same time frame, the rest committed by 5 white males, 1 black male, and 1 latino male. So, that's 1/3, which admittedly is a large increase when contrasted to all mass shootings in the U.S. since 1999.
So let's count the mass shootings with a known Muslim/Islamic terrorist link from 1999, OK?
There's the Orlando club from yesterday.
12/2/2015, the San Bernardino, California mass shooting, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik
7/16/2015, the Chattanooga, TN, military recruitment center shooting, Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez
11/5/2009, Fort Hood, Texas massacre, Nidal Malik Hasan
The 2/12/2007 shooting in Salt Lake City, Utah at Trolley Square by Sulejman Talović has been suggested he was carrying out an Islamic inspired terror event, but the FBI denies this.
At most 4, with 3 definitely confirmed.
Since 1999, there've been 55 mass shootings. (Picked 1999 because of Columbine.)
The rest had no Islamic/Muslim connections.
4 out of 55. The other shooters were comprised of 30 white males, 1 white female, 7 blacks, 5 Asians, 5 Latinos, and 3 Native Americans-one of which was female.
This is a link to the Mother Jones open database on mass shootings in the U.S. since 1982. Say what you will about Mother Jones, I challenge you to dispute the facts in the database.
