I just started my 2nd summer as an engineering intern at a nuke plant in NC and today I was writing up something for a meeting tomorrow on the board in the meeting room and my supervisor comes in and says my handwriting is worse than his. I told him he should have asked one of the female interns to do it if he wanted nice handwriting and he said not to say stuff like that because it's sexual harassment. WTF?

please tell me he's wrong, otherwise this world is way way way way too PC. if anything, i'm complimenting women.

If someone is uncomfortable, it's harassment by law.

it can be harassmet.. but i don't think it's a 'sexual harassment'

maybe..discrimination.. but not the sexual harassment.

What kind of harassment is it then? Handwriting harassment?

The OP made a comment that the female sex's handwriting is better than that of males. If that makes someone uncomfortable, it's SH.

If she's attracted to you, it's "flirting".

If she's not attracted to you, it's "Sexual Harassment".

In your case, she is a he, so it's probably going to be, "Sexual Harassment."

Yes, truth and common sense are not relevant or wanted in the USA today. Stick to lies and PC and you'll do fine in the workplace.

Who would be uncomfortable about something like that?

"oh noes he said i have good handwriting."

Not that I don't think people are way too sensitive, but as for your question, haven't you seen all the dumb lawsuits over the years? Some people just plain suck! :|

Spank him on the ass and tell him THAT is sexual harrasment, B!tch

it was a sexist statement.

No, it was a true statement.

And no, it wasn't any kind of harassment. WTF kind of idiot would be intimidated or uncomfortable because you said women have better handwriting????

true, I guess if I can sue McDonald's for burning my mouth with coffee I can sue someone for saying I have good handwriting.

Any intellectually honest person has to admit it is a borderline comment at best, which means it could be taken as a sexist comment. Now reasonably you could defend yourself, but why make the comment at work in the first place?

I'm not saying I'd be offended by it or that its good that political correctness has gone so far. I'm just saying that if you want to fit in, its best to just accept the injustice of it and move on.

and what does girl vs guy have to do with handwriting? If you are writing for an audience either write legibly or type.

Gawd, and who was it that put these friggein' laws in the books in the first place? Hint: Most reside in "blue" states!Yep, the same folks fighting against tort reform.
How do you propose we 'fix' it? We can't have specific phraseology in the law that's defined as sexual harassment because offenders will find a way around it.

The best way to avoid sexual harassment is to put the leverage in the hands of victims. If it makes someone uncomfortable, it's harassment. Sounds good to me.

wt* i thought that women would be happy to know that they are better than males at something, but nooooooo. Any reference we make about the ladies gets thrown back at us. That's why we need to counter feminists with maleists.

You should never make a comment that draws a comparison between peoples, race, gender, or age in the work place, that places one, in a better light, than the other. It really doesn't matter if it is true or not because those are the rules you have to play by and your career is what will suffer if you fail to play by the rules.

So you think it is better to to have no standards more than whatever someone "feels"? All your idea does is open the whole system to abuse and manipulation by a small minority of people at the expense of the vast majority. I'll just assume you are a liberal.
