Teixeira signs with the yankees

The Yankess are making baseball a joke.

Of course I hope they inpload again and remain the higgest paid team and no WS. 🙂

 ...but they dropped 80 million in payroll...
going to be that much more fun when they lose in the first round

A first basemen for 170 million? Give me a break. I'm glad the Sox don't have to pony that up. Now he'll be another star in the Yankees lineup who will get booed unless he hits a homerun at every at-bat.

I agree. Teix is a solid player, but that contract is ludicrous.

While the Yankees are showing you can't just buy a world series title, they are making baseball a competition between 5 or 6 teams, with the rest not having any ability to sign big free agents because they can't put up the same dollars. Makes the sport far less interesting. Salary cap sorely needed.

Over a quarter billion dollars spent on a guy with a 7+ ERA and 1 Win in the post season and a hitter with 1 playoff RBI. hahahah I can't wait to see them get bounced in the first round yet again.

really, huh? How many times have those "5 or 6 teams" won the WS in the past decade? Heck, how many times have those teams even been in the WS?

Out of left field. The Yankees just swooped in!

nah...eveyone had a feeling NY was not talking about it, but they were indeed the leading team. The fact that he turned down pretty much the same offer from the sox told everyone that he was a yankee. He was just using the yankees at first to get the sox to pay that 200 million dollar contract so the yankees would pay more. When he saw the sox saw what he was doing (and the sox wanted no part of a bidding war), he just said, " fvck it, the yanks are the only one who will give me this cash".

Boston offered more, but tex tried to play hardball and go "Oh...I think the Yanks may pay more...let me see if they will counter that...unless you can counter your own offer". Sox realized he was only using them to get yankees to up the cash. Why do you think john henry rushed to tell the media that they were no longer in the market? To basically screw him over so he wouldn't get that 200 Million dollar contract.

The Yankees now employ the four highest paid players in the league. What a crock of shit. (Bitter O's fan)

I'm an O's fan who's only joy each season is watching the Yanks crash and burn. It's all we've really had for the past 10 years.

As a New Yorker and a Yankees fan, I do not approve of the direction they are taking with this. I guess they want to win the WS really bad being in a new stadium and all this year. Plus it was an easy decision for them, they got rid of 80 million in bad players(some decent) and basically rolling the dice again on 3 new ones @ less than 80. They got enough money left over for a 4th if they so choose but I guess they're gonna try to work something out to keep Pettitte for another year with the remainder.

Yea I use to be against S.Caps but the yankees are making me rethink it.

"The agreement with Teixeira gives New York the four highest-paid players in baseball"
