the problem on racism here is they are trying to stamp out racist post. they are trying cure the "white guilt" they feel.

you make any comment that can be taken as racist against blacks you get nailed. but go against other races? it's ok.

The problem is that many "illegal activity" threads are not locked. The problem is that many posts that are out of bounds by anyone with any sense of morality are not locked. The problem is that thieves, racists and criminals are allowed to post whatever they want if they are one of the selected few. But then if someone who is on the shit list posts something even near the out of bounds marker, they are dealt with very harshly.

People are not and have never been treated equally here. Many of my friends have been banned, pushed out or ran off simply because the mod staff didn't like them on a personal level. The mod staff will bring up and repost things that happened years in the past but if a member does it, its a callout and they are banned. God forbid someone speak out against the mods here! They will surely be shunned!!!!

I stuck up for the mods for years. Even after getting perma banned. I defended them because I liked most of them on a personal level. But that has changed. I cannot defend a crew who use their mod powers to settle personal vendettas. Its almost as if the mod crew want the masses to fear them. Then when someone comes along who will not bow down to them, the ban stick comes out.

I look forward to my impending infraction for discussing this outside of MD.

shit just got real, make sure you ask for your dossier LOL

they also usually fail to take into account connotation vs. denotation, context is rarely considered when the word "lovely human" is used, and plenty of other words that have more than JUST a racist or homophobic or other potentially derogatory meanings.

Like Louis CK says, I wouldn't call a gay person a lovely human unless he was being a lovely human.

It's all about intent and the meaning behind the words, not the words themselves.

I need a good vacation anyway.

true. i have seen a few nailed for Asian jokes. i think it goes more to whites. They will claim some words are not racist yet "savage" is.

as Mnewsham says its about intent behind the words.

I would agree with that...still don't really get that S word banning that happened, but can't say that I really care all that much either...I come here for the lulz, can't take it too seriously or the lulz will be gone;)

I didn't read the article.

I got banned for "three months" a couple of years ago for going off on a mod about this issue in PM or until I "apologized" to him. I think he was just pissed overall that I happened to be right, so I think three months was excessive for telling him he may have his head shoved up his ass since it was a PM, though I probably deserved something for it. Pretty sure I was banned for a year or more, this is the first time I've tried to log in/post in a while since then; just stuck to reading.

It seems like there's been a lot LESS moderation recently (at least in OT, or maybe just all the lifers that weren't liked got cleaned out since there are far less of the older recognized names there); only the flagrant spam / non-discussion racist thread. Perhaps you guys have done some house-cleaning / refined some internal rules, or maybe some of the people flagging non-infraction posts that you guys just feel inclined to do something about psychologically has gone down.

I think, though, that some things need to be better "defined" for exactly what constitutes an infraction and what doesn't; it seems like most of these problems would stem from a lack of defined rules/regulations that moderators (and thus regular forum users) would have. Also, it's pretty hard for people to follow any kind of rules in this scenario, as well; it's impossible to define an effective, non-inclusive set of laws without definitions and examples serving as guidance between "allowed" and "disallowed." I suppose the best parallel I can draw is that you guys have citizens and judges, but you have little to no details in the laws of society, leaving almost everything up to obvious interpretation, which results in the application of non-applicable things to confine the rules to the individual rather than the individual to the rules.

So let me get this straight: these egos are so fragile that they can't handle a little debate even in private, and so in need of validation that a forced apology can wipe away sins of "difference of opinion"? It's almost sad :'(

Maybe Jang Song Thaek should have just apologized to Kim Jong Un and been done with it.

Note that this happened a couple of years ago.

At least in OT, ATG, P&N, GH, PCG these issues are mostly non-existent.

Again... You have a group of guys donating their time for free and you will see emotions and opinions involved.

Threads here just go off the rails so quick and I'm sure a mod could have a hard time sorting out the mess. I mostly just see mods that struggle, almost like a ref not keeping the game under control and then has to eject players because a fight breaks out.

reffing soccer matches is actually relatively easy

most of a match is quite painless however every now and then a memoent pops up that is incredably hard to deal with and requires good wisdom and quick thinking

Does saying you're sorry to the ref and telling him how awesome he is get you off the hook?

just seeing if all the whining is true about censorship

I got a warning for that one, a few months ago, in a similarly obviously ironic usage. Report back what happens this time around :D

I just love reading this thread over my morning cup of coffee.

All the crybabies and then there are a few who are reasonable and realize the mods are not paid and give freely of there time! Without Mods this place would become the next stormfront....

Though, what about special occasions like Christmas or birthdays? Sometimes managers will give gifts to employees or w/e.

The employees are responsible for reporting the fair market value of all compensation received from the company. If the manager is giving it on behalf of the company, it's income and the employee must report it on his or her federal taxes. Otherwise it's tax evasion.

Maybe that's because the Black "race" was subjugated for centuries by the white majority in this country.

It's not rocket science, Waggy, I'm sure you could grasp the concept if you would just try a bit harder.

Why make your own life needlessly difficult?
