Ebonics are you serious?

I used to know this guy in high school where we would throw racial slurs at each other and crack everyone up (he was black and I'm white), but we were pretty good friends and it was mutually all in good fun. I don't know why that would be tolerated here though.

whatever happened to ebonics?

That was funny stuff.

I wonder if it somewhat has to do with some posters using the 'Report' feature while others don't. I can't imagine the Mods read everything so I would be willing to bet that if your target is more likely to use the report feature you will be more likely you are to receive an infraction. Make a comment about someone who doesn't care or doesn't know where the report button is and no infraction. Make the same comment towards someone who reports you and get an infraction

Probably true. You want to see a circle of whiny little babies who freak out when they don't get 10 other people agreeing with them? Head over to console gaming.

I have had an insider claim that certain groups msg each other to mass-report posts that they morally disagree with. An effective internet 'lynch mob' to get someone banned when they aren't capable of continuing their argument.

Wouldn't surprise me. I've seen that sort of mindset around here from time to time. Not in OT, but in one or two of the other forums.

Don't like what you're hearing? REPORTWAAAHHH!!!!

I've never used the "report" feature. But then again I'm not a whiny little bitch with a glass ego. If I don't like a thread, I don't read it. If I don't like a person, I don't read their posts. Amazing how well that works, and it doesn't require being a tattletale masquerading around as a grown man.

Every time I see off topic or troll posts in VC&G I report them. After a while nothing was ever being done so I just trolled back. I then get infractions telling me to take my whining elsewhere.

Was a really professional reply from a mod.

It's been a while, but I've gotten the same style of bullshit in an infraction PM. Meh.

Possibly influenced (subconsciously?) by the username "SheHateMe."

No,It is not. And if you saw any of his posts towards me, it has to do with a lot more than my username. I was advised not to respond to him (and to just report him) and I do exactly that. Lately, he has become a lot bolder with his insults towards me due to my race and the city I come from. I have reported him several times since last year. He will make it a point to pop into a thread and make some inflammatory statement about black women (or just blacks in general) just because I am there. Recently, he got upset because of something I said about people talking trash about countries they've never been to. I guess he thought I was directing my comment towards him when I was not (he didn't even have a post in the thread). He decided to "Pwn me in the ass" with a bunch of media links about Detroit. He used Ebonics in his statements about these links and then called me "dumb ass ghetto trash".

Ultimately, it ended up with him getting vacationed for a week.

I don't feel like digging up more of his posts as examples. I'm pretty sure people will try to tell me it isn't a big deal. I have reported his more outrageous and disgusting posts. The admins have seen them and he has been warned a few times to get over his beef with me.

And honestly, I don't see why someone would try to rationalize why he said what he said. Regardless if it was about my name or not.

Poking fun at funny and/or accurate redneck culture - A-OK

Poking fun at funny and/or accurate asian culture - A-OK

Poking fun at funny and/or accurate middle-class white culture - A-OK

But poking fun at funny and/or accurate black culture - OMG travesty racists group together ban them all due to guilt and etc etc etc

People tell you to get over it because it's time to get over it. It's 2014, not 1950s or even early 80s. This concept that there is widespread institutionalized racism in 2014 is holding back race relations amongst all of us... That's why people say to get over it.

And you're treated that way because you blow up if you even mistakenly perceive someone as looking at you funny. You've even done it to me, going on tirades from (intentionally?) misinterpreting and misconstruing my opinions. Stand up for zimmerman = RACIST against you on a personal level, and that behaviour is why you're treated the way you are.

And for the record... It happens to spidey and geo just the same as you. But they don't go around having hissy fits and mass-reporting people to lynch them.

And the reason people are annoyed by your mentality is you don't want race issues to even be discussed. You want to push race issues behind a curtain and make it unacceptable to discuss them. That's not the way to move forward as a society....

Spatial insists on trying to talk to someone who has him on ignore. I am viewing this thread from my phone and I'm not logged in (I just logged in to post this response, however)...so, I did see what he had to say. Its a bunch of bullshit about hanging onto the past as usual. It has absolutely nothing to do with that. I know what year it is, you don't need to remind me that it isn't the 50's anymore. What the fuck does that have to do with a valid report on someone?

I am nothing like Spidey and Geosurface (Geo is an admitted racist, white nationalist, and lately....a holocaust denier).

That's another problem with this site. If you get someone vacationed over a disgusting comment they made, you have posters like Spatial who are ready to downplay what the person said and who are also ready to paint you as someone who can't roll with the punches. Or they will try to come up with some BS about how they got an insider tip that there's a rogue group of posters conspiring to get him and his friends banned.

The reason Spatial is on ignore is because I was tired of him trying to tell me that I don't work for anything I have and that I blame white people for stuff. He doesn't know my life at all...yet, he continues to try to bring me down to his level because he obviously likes upsetting people. The last post I saw before putting him on ignore was him apologizing for attacking me. But, I wasn't buying it. You don't attack someone until you get a rise out of them and then get all apologetic so you don't get put on ignore.

I get so many people from this forum who PM me saying that they think its good that I stand up for myself on this forum and that I should really stay out of P&N because its a wasteland. I don't want to give up posting in any subforum, but I have started to use the ignore and/or report functions lately.

There's some things I don't mind engaging in...but im not going to engage people who get off on going below the belt with attacks or insults.

I don't have time for that. I'm about to be 24 years old, I'm a college graduate, I have a car, a nice paying job, and a roof over my head. I have no space in my life for some negative asshole on the internet that tries to insult me by saying I don't work for anything I have.

The big difference between you and and geo and spidey is that they are fully open to listen and respect other people's opinions. They might disagree with them, but they'll have an honest an open debate. Just like you, they might not have popular opinions, but at least they're open to a discussion about why they feel the way they do.

You, on the other hand, seem to be intent on silencing anyone who disagrees with you. You don't want any moral topic discussed that you personally feel like is too sensitive or hits too close to home.

Same with your other complaint about me. Even though my comment was not directed at you as a personal attack, and I was clear I wasn't intending on "calling you out" personally, you got super offended by my general statements. So, I apologized, and told you I wasn't intending on hurting your feelings just trying to have an open debate.

And your response, as is typical with your "supporters".. Is to silence me. Which is fine, I could not care less whether or not you have me on ignore, but it is important to me that you realize it's not a "personal" thing for all of us to have a conversation on why things are the way they are (in regards to race) and that you need to get some tougher skin if you want to actually open your eyes to what's going on in society from a cultural perspective.

The good thing about this forum is that it's open for public debate. You can't personally attack someone, which is reasonable, but you are free to voice your opinions on a subject. Your main issue seems to be that you only want people to discuss things you're ok with. Thank goodness the world doesn't work that way, and you can just stay in your bubble. I don't agree with that, but fully support your legal and moral right to do it.

I didn't witness it. Sorry you have to deal with people like that. Whoever that guy is, he sounds like a complete asshole and the kind of poster that disgraces himself and this entire forum. Unless he experiences a genuine personal transformation, I hope he gets perma-banned.
