Wonder what teams are considering going after Alex Smith at SF.

not many considering he didn't get many offers in the off-season before the Niners re-signed him. Smith on the Cardinals has a better chance than the current Cardinals' QBs.

I feel bad for Fitzgerald, such a talent and no one to throw to him. He should demand a trade to the niners.

Ken Whisenhunt was criticized for sticking with Ryan Lindley too long and now they want an even less accurate QB? Makes no sense to me, this is just a bs rumor.

Due to the drama surrounding the Jets' organization, it is my opinion that the Cardinals (& pretty much anywhere else, for that matter) would be a better fit for Tebow.

I'll elaborate. There was a lot of chatter early in the Tebow moving to the Jets discussions about utilizing him in several different positions (special teams, fullback, etc.), but that rarely happened. I think if the Cardinals were to say they were going to do that, they actually would, and not just spend hours talking about it.

Difference being, grown men run the Cardinals' organization, whereas the Jets are run by confused teenage girls.

Tim Tebow has a lot left in the tank. It's going to take the right team & the right situation to showcase that.

You mean he's going to go back to college to play again?

It's funny how so many are quick to say that what he did in Denver was a fluke, or just pure luck. Completely ignoring the fact that he carried that team into the playoffs & beat Pittsburgh.

He may not be a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, but he's not the garbage player so many think he is.

I think any Tebow threads should go directly to P&N, they fit the mold. There are enough misinformation and opinionated ” facts” in here to make a regular P&N pastry blush.

Maybe we should create a religion forum, just for Tebow, or is it the front page of NFL.com? :hmm:

Denver had a pretty good team around Tebow and he was not a very good QB despite some upsets in a fairly weak division. The reason they beat Pittsburgh was injuries. The Pats absolutely destroyed Denver the next game and then Denver dumped Tebow like a bad habit.

Ok, so you think these stats are good for 14 games?

46.5% Completion Rate
1,729 Passing Yards
12 TD
6 INT
7 Fumbles

660 Rushing Yards
6 TD
6 Fumbles

Now, ESPN doesn't say whether the fumbles from the passing stats vs. rushing stats are the same. Regardless, he turns the ball over more than he scores when it comes to being a QB.

What about his post-season stats?

40.4% Completion Rate
452 Passing Yards
2 TD
0 INT
1 Fumbles

63 Rushing Yards
1 TD
0 Fumbles

I'm sorry but he really didn't carry that team - the defense had a tremendous part of it.

He did pretty well in SF this year before going out with the concussion. Plus, he was outshone a little bit by mr manning.

Fitzerald for Smith + some drafts? Fitz + moss + crabtree + manningham next year with Vernon Davis at TE. Should make any quarterback happy.

Any QB except Alex Smith. Fitzgerald is the only thing AZ has going for it, so I doubt they'd get rid of him. It should be easier for them to get a QB by other means, but AZ hasn't had a decent QB since Warner.

Fitz for Smith? You gotta be crazy if you think that is realistic at all.

Its not. :D Smith has to go somewhere though, so I might as well start the crazy ideas.

I always thought Kolb was an OK quarterback. He just couldn't put a team on his shoulders.

Just read on wiki about him that he likes hunting wild pigs with some dogs and a 12 inch bowie knife...

Every single team in the NFL had a chance to pick Tebow up last off season. Every single team but the Jets traded a pick for him. A low round garbage pick at that. Why do so many people think that NFL teams are stupid? The guy cannot throw a football with any consistency and his mechanics are atrocious. I don't give a fuck about the one play he made in Denver. Get over it. His stats are so bad, why can't everyone see this?

Don't you think that teams like Cleveland, Kansas City, Jacksonville ,Buffalo and Tennessee would be falling all over themselves trying to get this guy if he had any ability at all? Instead the Browns turn to Brandon Weeden for heavens sake. While Jacksonville actually had Chad Henne in for several games and Tennessee is thinking of bringing back Ken Stabler. That's how bad Tebow is.

He has the physique to be a tight end in a league where the position is rapidly becoming one of the most important tools on offense, but he won't do it.

Peace

not realistic at all ... but Cardinals' can do what any Pro Sports team has done .. blow up the roster, clear cap space, play for a lottery pick and get high ticket free agents.

Alex Smith will most likely get cut by the Niners to save the $8 million roster bonus he is owed. Thus Alex Smith will be a free agent.

I didn't say he's the best QB in the league & I certainly didn't say he carries the highest QBR.

I'm not going to say he has excellent mechanics & I'm not going to say that you don't have a point regarding the number of teams that offered a trade for him.

What I am saying is, he's not the worst player in the NFL & he is deserving of a legitimate shot at being a starter in one position or another. In fact, I think he could be a starter in more than one position, depending on circumstances (opponent, QB, FB, RB, etc.).

Most folks around here & the media seem to think the guy should retire from the NFL because he's not good enough. I disagree. In Denver, he proved that he's good enough for the NFL.

In the meantime, on a new team, while battling for a starting role, he would also be an asset on short yardage situations. The Jets were supposed to utilize him for this, but decided against it (dumb move). On 3rd & 1, the guy will get a 1st down. The guy can run a lot of people over, but nobody seems to care about that.

To the point on fumbles, sure, he's had fumbles. So has Brady, Peyton, Colin, etc., all during the playoffs.

Denver dumped Tebow like a bad habit the day after they picked up Peyton Manning. If they hadn't landed Manning, do you think they would have bailed on Tebow so they could start Kyle Orton (who was benched in favor of Tebow) or Brady Quinn (who they trusted enough to play exactly zero minutes in two years)? Peyton Manning was a gift that allowed the Broncos to get out of the Tebow dilemma without looking like fools. Had Manning chosen a different destination, Tebow would still be a Bronco (well, probably not any more after failing to make the playoffs). But let's not pretend that Denver dumped Tebow because he lost to the Patriots on the road; they dumped him because one of the top 3 quarterbacks of all time fell in their lap.

All correct except for the top 3 thing. He's what, 9-12 in the playoffs now? And with winning teams...it's not like he's been sneaking in the back door at 9-7 all the time.

Nobody actually watched those games, they watched what ESPN showed after the game - who were notorious for showing all of the terrible plays he made instead of the good ones. For some reason, the sports world had a vendetta against him. Even after he beat Pittsburgh they refused to acknowledge how great he played, and layed it up to Ryan Clark being out due to his illness where somehow only playing at 5280 affects him.
