I spent some time over at the ABC forum and found this:

1) the big bonus points are awarded for crunching long WUs (excessive though, I think)

2) 64 bit OS does better on the long WUs thus more points (fair advantage, I think)

Heck, I'm a stats freak so I don't mind hanging with the  for a month!:p

#2 vote was ufluids I think and that only supports windows machines.

I don't mind staying. It'll be interesting to see what the team will top out at, we've already had a 50k day.

IMO WCG is very low points, with all my PCs on it I top out at around 4k or 5k ppd while on almost any other I'll be at 7k-9k.

On ABC I'm already at 10k and I'll probably go higher still.

WCG calculates the credits based on the claimed credits, which is outdated, because of the credit inflation.

That pretty much covers the only reason I'm interested in running ABC (for a short time) but I wouldn't have any problem switching to another project if that's what you folks want to do...

I've never crunched 10K per day! I am estatic! There looks to be a good race for total production for the month shaping up.

We have a number who are getting 8K to 11K per day. And we have several more who could ramp up to that. Let's see if we can get a 100K day!

So then we stay? That's ok. Maybe it's even some justice to lower yielding projects like Malaria or WCG. They give less creds, thus ABC gives more :D

We are proof that intelligent life exists in cyberspace!

This is part of the TeAm description on this project. It's a good thing the link doesn't point to OT!:D

Let then the crunching continue!

I'll be off net for a few days. The ISP is drawing a new fiber cable to all houses in my neighborhood and thus the connection will not be available for the next 4 - 5 days. I may hae the time to check in from my office but I am not promising any posts ... ;)

Where is that jealousy emote? I can't download a linux Live CD ISO because our internet craps out so often. :|

Tell me! I'm on DSL lite here, 40k downstream. Heck, I can't even watch a youtube video without preloading it first. That's the drawback of living in the countryside of Germany. :(

We have already fiber - but so many houses along "my" street are heavy users ... the real-world-capacity is way too low: only somewhere around 15 - 20 MBits/s. That may seem sufficient - but it is not considering that we are eight heavy internet users in our home: 6 teenagers and two adults - a total of 26 computers, 23 of those 24/7 ... This looks more like a medium sized enterprise than a private home.

Dwayne--

Did you suspend it at anytime? ABC has occasional problems with suspends.

Usually, mine abort with a calculation error, but sometimes they just don't validate.

It's possible. My machine has been doing funny things with the bad RAM in it. New stuff gets here tomorrow though.

If we maintain an average of 60K per day, we should get to the #26 spot before the end of the month. We would need another 15K or so per day to get #25, and about 45K more to get #24 so those are probably out of reach unless we can get several more people to join us. Jumping from #58 to #26 in a single month isn't too shabby. ;)

Thanks Rudy Toody!

I guess I'll have to move more of my computers over to ABC. :D
