Only because Republicans have occupied the whitehouse for most of the last 26 years, and have done nothing about immigration, besides legalizing millions of people that were here illegally.

Republicans have been horrible when it comes to illegal immigration, but the fact that you are conveniently forgetting, is that Democrats are just as bad. No one in power is doing anything about it, they are too afraid of losing votes. This is not a partisan issue, you making it one does absolutely nothing to make it better, in fact, it makes it worse.

No, you are wrong, Democrats are not as bad on this issue. It is Reagan that legalized millions of illegals, and it is Bush that is pushing for another legalization.
And how many employers has the Bush Justice Dept. prosecuted for hiring illegals?

Not being able to sell alcohol is a known law and accepted. There are contigencies in place. So now we have to accomodate everyone in the world with different religious beliefs? So know you have to run and get someone for the Catholic cashier that now refuses to ring up condoms.

If I were manager I would send that cashier to janitorial duty. Unfortunately now the cashier cannot be fired, otherwise the ACLU would amker her rich.

All the snide comments aside, I can see how she doesn't want to handle it if it is unclean, and out of my own opinion I think it is really up to each person to decide what they are comfortable with. But if she has a real problem with scanning pork based items she needs to decide if this is a job in which she is fine doing.

Who knows Aimster. She may not want to associate with those products at all - I said I understand WHY she may think like that, but I commented earlier that she was most likely dealing with a sealed package.

Besides, what do you know about her eating habits? Who knows - she may only eat halal meat, and she may not. Even if the meat is not halal, if that is your only option the Quran says God already understands and will allow it so as long as you aren't doing out of out spite or something stupid like that. Heck, in life or death situations -- eating pork is permissible and is commanded by God in order to stay alive....but in the good ol USA where McDonalds is a hopscotch away I'm sure even the most liberal Muslim sees absolutely no reason to eat pork.
