I was shopping in a Circuit City some years back. They had a sale on mini-fridges (the college dorm kind), the display consisting of one fridge with a big sticker on it reflecting the price. A man of rather large build casually picks up the display model and proceeds to walk towards the cashiers at the front of the store, blissfully unaware that he was indeed walking off with the display.
I was standing within earshot of two salesmen on the floor.
"What's that guy doing?"
"Uhmm, that's the floor model..."
"Someone should tell him."
At that point, it seemed like all the staff's eyes were trained on him, but no one wanted to engage him, either for fear of confrontong a big guy who's intentions were not know, laziness, or not wanting to embaress him.
Curious as to the outcome, I strolled towards the checkout myself. I missed the initial incident, but it turns out that he had plopped the fridge down on the checkout counter and wipped out cash, ready to pay. When I got there, a manager was making nice, telling him that they had a new model in a box waiting for him at the loading dock.

You're an ass. It's not OK to leave your customers waiting an inordinate amount of time. If there is a seasonal rush, then stores should try their best to adjust with extra staff to off set the wait.
Maybe the management was an ass not to hire more employees, but it's rather asinine to call him an ass for something that wasn't his responsibility. :roll:Originally posted by: Garet Jax

I called him an ass for not serving the customer after they waited their turn in line. Last time I checked he was hired to serve customers so that was his responsibility.
I could care less that he doesn't want to hear the customer's complaint. Unfortunately, as a customer facing employee, that is his job.

So you think people who are major asses deserve to be treated with the same kind of friendliness that nice people get?
That's not what you said. Let's review, shall we?Originally posted by: Garet Jax

Your two posts don't match up very well, or so it seems. Your latest statement actually might have some sense to it, but your first one was indeed asinine. Just in case it isn't clear, you called him an ass for the long delay, not for not serving the customer after she started the needless bitching. You're an ass. No, I'd say you are an ass. If you don't like the wait, but the retail staff is honestly doing their best (If they're ignoring you and picking their nose, it's one thing) then STFU. If you think the store is understaffed, take it up with the manager, not the salesdrone. He has to deal with pissed off people all day, and constantly there are too many people in line.
God, whatever happened to common courtesy?

Customer: Where are your keyboards
I take them over to the keyboard section.
The guy looks at the most expensive keyboard mouse combo we have.
Customer: Can i get a deal on this one?
Me: Sorry we don't discount, but if you can find any of our competitors selling it for less, we will pricebeat (our pricing policy).
Customer: K, go find it for less somewhere for me.
Me:
I walked away.
