i know a few guys who are awesome natural athletes and they can go out and shoot high 70s and low 80s and they only golf a few times per year. they don't even like golf and they don't care what they shoot.

some people are gifted athletes, deal with it.

No. No they don't (again unless its a par3 county course and/or don't follow the rules of the game).

Yes. Yes they do. Just because you can't doesn't mean they can't. Would they shoot that at Bethpage Black? Hell no ... but on a run-of-the-mill course ... sure.

Bingo. The guys that claim they don't care cheat their asses off to get to numbers that impress morons. I always find it amusing that the guys who claim to care the least artificially adjust their scores the most.

i have no reason to lie and neither do they. they don't give a fuck about golf, they're hockey and baseball players. they are awesome at every sport they touch with minimal effort.

Homerboy, yes they do.

you hackers just have to deal with it, there are people that are better than you at golf and they just don't care to play.

i'm not defending anyone here, i'm just telling you that these guys exist.

i would love to set up a match where they come out and kick your thrice-weekly golfing asses.

I'd love to join in on that with Match Play rules. I used to play every day of the week for months on end in high school. Golf isn't easy, unless you practice. Golf isn't a pick-up sport.

I haven't swung a golf clubs in years either, and I have my set just collecting dust. I really should start again this year. I was never very good, but it's fun anyways.

Melty ... is just isn't worth it. I've tried before, and I'll probably try again, but for now I'm leaving this discussion. Wish it was to go play golf ... but that isn't until tomorrow :p

This thread is crazy. I know plenty of guys besides myself who shoot in the 80's without a ton of rounds per year. That's only a couple shots better than bogey golf.

Any person with decent golfing skills and a level head on the course can achieve that. As long as they can putt.

Maybe you guys who doubt this play with the wrong people. I used to play with guys like you when I was younger; guys who cared about score more than even enjoying the round of golf itself. Inevitably there would be angry outbursts, swearing, and thrown clubs etc

And more often than not that would cause everybody to implode.

Now, years later, I live in a different town and play with even keel guys who are out there to enjoy golf for what it is. That makes a huge difference.

And yes - we play it where it lies. The only "rule adjustment" we make is that we play first drive in off of #1; your round starts with a good drive. But I can't even remember the last time we used that. Probably 2 years ago.

Once when I was still golfing with the hotheads we were at a bar after the round. I thought I had parred 5 holes in a row and was talking about that stretch with some non-golfers when one of the guys (one of my BEST friends at the time who wasn't even involved in the conversation) angrily commented "you parred 4 holes in a row, you lying f$%^".

This thread reminds me of those days.

And the guys I used to play with? As far as I know, none of them plays anymore. Imagine that.

How many mulligans? Par 3 course? Why does EVERYONE lie about their golf score?

Maybe you should read his post before posting? He said middle school and high school. For all we know, he could have been doing his mid-80s during his senior year of high school.

I've read it several times. And its still BS unless he's playing some par 3 county course.
Shooting 80s CONSISTENTLY only playing ~20 times a year (given year round golfing) he'd have the potential to be a highly ranked amateur if he actually put some effort into it.

Sorry, until I see a verified scorecard, I'm calling BS on him and ANYONE that says they shoot sub-90 consistently on a legit course
what a stupid statement. straight up, that's fucking ludicrous. you guys make it sound like mid-80s is the promised land of golf

frankly, i find Gag's story about the hacker to be wayyyyy more unbelievable. sounds like overcooked bullshit just to prove a point if you ask me.

i believe the OP, no problem. mid-80s isn't a big deal. all you golf pros like Gag should know that, instead you choose to be assholes and troll because you're bored. double-digit handicappers fire mid-80s regularly. get a clue and quit arguing for the sake of arguing. and you golf elitists should post up some scorecards on these "legit" tracks you're playing. you make it sound like we could all practice daily and struggle to break 90

oh but look out, Johnny is shooting mid-80s, here comes the PGA tour!!!!!!! get a clue.
