Yeah right. You price wood lately? One 4'x6' slab of pine or popular will run you $25-$35 alone at Home Depot. More like $150-$200 to build your own desk (maybe more) and it won't be as functional. It's not as easy as it sounds. Anyway, the desk in this deal has a heavy duty, not absorbing laminate on it that is scratch resistant and pretty durable. No particle board is showing anywhere as it is completely encased in laminate. Much better than a lot of particle board desks around.

Might want to check out this Sauder corner desk unit for $150 from Office Depot (hutch, also shown, costs $150 extra). I just bought it along with the writing desk ($150), the CPU cabinet ($150) and 3 utility cabinets ($100 each), so now I've got a monster desk. It's very stable and seems to be of good quality. It was not that hard to put together (although I was tired/sore after my 6th desk set piece!), and the assembly instructions are well written.

Add some Office Depot coupons and factor in free shipping with $50 purchase, and the desk (or desk set, in my case) looks very attractive, delivered right to your door!

Nice desk... I scored one very similar to that last Black Friday at Staples or somewhere for like $50 out the door. It wouldn't work for me at all, but it's perfect for the wife since she uses her computer about once a week, and only to check mail and stuff.

Bump for a great deal, but ugh, I hate desks like these. My legs go on the floor, not a shelf! Who wants their PC between their legs?

that desk is 79.99 at staples and you can even use a coupon to make it even lower.

you need an lcd. :p

If I could find a fast one that ran non-standard resolutions well I may take the bite....my monitor does hog an excessive amount of space plus adding a ton of heat.

I just want to put in my two cents about the Jerker: For a hundred bucks it is THE BEST desk you can buy. I am sitting at it right now and even with all my crap there is still empty space. It's sweet.

I got the same desk for 40 bucks at Kmart on clearance about 8 months ago. It is a great desk!

first of all, the keyboard tray is not wide enough to fit the keyboard AND mouse
I have no problem with keyboard and mouse on the tray

Advice, dont attach the bottom shelf and then your feet touch the floor....
