I'm a donor. It's really easy since its on campus. I figure, I'm fortunate enough to be healthy, might as well share some of that with people who aren't.

Because Im a cheap bastard and I donate my plasma. You have to wait I believe two months between donating blood and then donating plasma.

i hate needles
it is inconvenient. heck i dunno even know where to go.
and i'm not exactly comfortable with the idea of my vital fluid being sucked... i know it's nothing but still...

there's also the fear of the remote possibility of infection

It takes less than a hour after your first 3 or 4 visits. Depending on where you live you can make an extra $150-300 a month with less than 3 hours time spent a week.

Im not sure how donating blood works, but when you donate plasma they hook you up to a machine that seperates your plasma from your blood, then along with an antiquagulant pumps the remaing parts of the blood back into you.

I would donate in heartbeat, but I have 2 reasons that keep me from donating.

1. Was stationed in England for 3 years.

2. Deployed alot to Africa, thus took many rounds of anti-maleria pills.

I used to donate quite frequently. Received my "gallon" pin a few years back. However, due to certain circumstances at the moment, I can't. However, I do hope to be donating soon (within a year or so.)

Yes you can make money donating plasma. Its atleast $150, more depending on where you live and how much you weigh. Most places its $150-200, but Ive heard of a couple cities where it(or it was at one time) $200-300, might have been $200-$250 I dont remember.

I get nausious (or however you spell that) when I have blood taken for tests or for whatever. I'm fien with watching other people do it or gory stuff, but when it's me, it doesn't sit very well.

I just never think about it. We don't have blood drives or anything here at work so I'd have to go in and it just never really occurs to me to do so. *shrugs*
