Survey’s surprising finding: tea party less popular than atheists and Muslims

The Dems could hold the Senate if they win 23 out of 33. They did that 6 years ago, but that was a huge tide election that turned both the house and senate over to the Democrats.

And it is very unlikely that we will see anything close to that this time.

The GOP should pick up 6 seats or more next fall. 3 or 4 are almost certain victories.

The 2012 senate elections are going to look like the 2010 house elections. The Democrats are going to be trying to save what seats they can while the GOP stretches itself to win seats all over the place.

LOL

The Tea Party where the ones who forced Boehner to walk out on President Obama's 4 Trillion dollars worth of cuts.
Not really.

Obama forced him to walk out by offering something that Boehner wouldn't vote for no matter what.

If Boehner had told Obama that the GOP wouldn't settle for anything that didn't include cuts to SS and Medicare it would have been Obama walking out.

It's a poll actually. If you want to question it, then make sure to question every other poll that gets cited on this board, regardless of whether you like the result or not.
I found the story about this poll to be particularly "interesting"...and actually don't give a damn about the "result" as you imply. Just want to see details as I have done with many polls.

But hey...make sure to echo your statement to every poster on this board who questions a poll, regardless of whether you agree with them or not. After all...you're the one who's set the bar for horseshit expectations...not me.

I am glad you find it funny that the Democrats are likely to lose the Senate next year 🙂

But don't take my word for it...

Let's see what Larry Sabato has to say:

As we take a fresh look at next year’s Senate races, one thing is clear: Barring an unexpected reelection landslide by President Obama, Republicans are at least slightly favored to take the Senate. It’s just a basic matter of numbers.

So the math is obvious. The best Democrats can probably do is to retain the Senate by one vote or maybe a tied Senate broken in the Democrats’ favor by Vice President Biden if President Obama is reelected. Republicans look likely to gain three seats, and have a fair-to-good chance to pick up four or five. Anything above that could signal a GOP victory in the presidential race, with attendant coattails.
BTW: 2008 "while achieving a 100 percent accuracy rating by correctly predicting the result of every single gubernatorial and Senate race across the country."
That is a better record than me 🙂

Democrats would love going back to the days of GWB.

That's why they are going absolutely f'ing nuts in desperate attempts to assault the Tea Party until it is no more. You love big gov Republicans and the concept of REAL opposition, of a small gov Republican, is so offensive that you're going for the kill in the strongest terms possible.

Go back to everything wrong with GWB. It's because he supported big gov. More spending, more patriot acts, more wars, more gitmo, more warrantless taps. It's because he was NOT conservative. Not Tea Party. We're attempting to correct that and purge the GOP of its big gov neocons.

Dem's response at the possibility of splitting the GOP vote? Go read any modern news and topic. Your response is disgusting. It's not civilized and will lead to the breakdown of civil order if you keep this up.

Republicans attempt to get RID of the next Bush, and you're going savage. I understand your reasons though. Bush tickled your tummy, scratched your back, and kept your big gov throne warm for you. Hell he even made it bigger. Everything you want is in men like Bush. We are a threat to that oligarchy.

We are the only opposition you have, and you're terrified that we're going to win.

So let's see now if you guys have both the House and the Senate who the hell can you be douchebags to and obstruct against? Your party will be lost!

Are you kidding me? The Tea Party is ANYTHING but what you've described. A recent survey of Tea Partyists was done and they concluded the following about them:

-They are overwhelmingly white
-They are overwhelmingly racist towards immigrants
-They are overwhelmingly Christian and in favor of religion playing a central part in the politics of this country

The list goes on and on. These people are nothing more than the social Conservatives that Bush used to get elected. They got pissed off and disilussioned with the Republican party, and were fooled by the Koch brothers into believing the Tea Party was anything but the right arm of the Republican Party.

You my friend have been duped. Hook, line, sinker.

Could you link the poll showing what you've claimed?

I've been researching polls for little while now and all that I've seen say they are remarkably similar in demographics to the 'average American'. I.e, about the same percentage of whites as the population in general.

I've not seen any poll yet that that describes them as "overwhelmingly Christian and in favor of religion playing a central part in the politics of this country".

Oddly, or perhaps I should say unexpectedly, income taxes is not at the top of the list of their concerns. Instead it's Washington's spending and health care (and a 3rd one I forget).

I have seen one poll that discusses the claim of racism.

TIA

People want obstruction of the Obama agenda. Hell, Republicans RAN on obstruction in 2010 and they won in record numbers.

I still don't think Liberals get that pesky fact. They ran on the platform of stopping Obama, and that's what they're trying to do. The very essence of the Tea Party is stopping Obama and RINOs as well (primary results).

The tax paying American has woken up and now they're voting. "I'm needed at work" is no longer an excuse and has turned into "My country needs me, I'm voting every time".

Still so proud of my state for sending Rand Paul to the election and then sending him to the Senate against the wishes of the senate minority leader. Yes we CAN take it back. Yes we CAN stop him. We MUST stop him.

I think your delusional...With Congress's poll numbers are at it's lowest ever you really think people are in love with obstructionism?

Well see how it works out for ya next time around .

Care to make a wager? 2012 is coming and everybody I know is already motivated for it, and it's not for Obama or democrats. He woke the tax paying giant.

What's even more funny is your smack dab in the middle of republicans doing what they said they would do. You're surrounded by a highly liberal district and are not representative of the sentiment of this nation.

I take Paypal but with my luck you live in your Mommy's basement and can't afford to pay attention...

iirc, Spidey has made several bets on these forums and has been good for it. It's a safe bet.

I have also made bets on these forums over politics. I'll wager you $500 that the GOP takes the Senate.

Bet?

It was on CNN.

Majority were WHITE.
Majority had a negative opinion about minorities in this country.
Majority of them believe religion should play a central role in politics.

Is it news to you that conservatives are typically white and racist towards minorities? What rock did you crawl out of?
