No it is not saying that. Learn how to read.

Implicitly it is otherwise the ruling makes no sense.

Unless you want to argue that it makes sense that a rule that would grant preference to some whites and some blacks means we need to have a rule that will only grant preference to blacks?

As I have already stated, yes it suits me.

I find great joy in knowing high school seniors can not buy a bottle of whiskey then go driving around.

and you'd agree that that's a good reason for choosing to differentiate?

that's what legacy admissions end up being. grandpa went to college back when they only let whites in, so i get ++ points on my application!

And there are plenty of black college graduates. One I believe even sits on the Supreme Court.

While I agree that more whites will benefit from legacy admissions that doesn't mean you should have a policy that only caters to black students.

Such a policy then essentially double screws poor white students who have access neither to legacy admissions nor AA.

Legacy admissions are essentially discrimination on class not race. If you want to balance them out you should look to admit more low class students of all races.

or, you know, just get rid of legacy admissions.

are you or are you not in favor of discriminating against 18 year olds in the purchase of alcohol?

Are you seriously pursuing this age discrimination thing or just trolling? At some point, people will not be 18, 19 or 20 and turn 21 and then they will have access to it. Unless black people do what Michael Jackson did, they are not going to magically turn white at a certain point...and the reverse is true of white people turning black, no matter how many tanning salons they attend.

it's getting harder and harder to tell the difference between those that are serious those that are trolls around here.

I have no objection to doing so. But it has nothing to do with affirmative action.

Legacy admissions are discrimination on the basis off socioeconomic class.

AA is discrimination on the basis of race.

so, by your own reasoning, are you a troll and a hypocrite?

Seriously?

You are comparing public health issues imposed by drinking and driving and the health of the young person to racial discrimination?

WTF? Where are you coming up with this crap?

We have numerous scientific studies showing the long term effects of drinking on the developing mind.

We also have economic studies of the effects of laziness on future income.

no, i'm determining that you're a troll and a hypocrite, by your own criteria.

Do you feel the same about colleges like Central State and Wilberforce?

yup

Trying to stop young people from killing themselves while drinking and driving is somehow the same as racial discrimination?

I get a feeling you are trolling me.

How do you compare alcohol addiction to race?

i get the feeling you're trolling this whole forum.

Do you have any evidence that public universities are using legacy admissions to secretly discriminate against minorities?

it's not secret.

again, grandpappy got in when they didn't let in black people. so i get plus points. that's racist.

We have no reasons to promote racial discrimination.

well, no, there are reasons. they just have to pass strict scrutiny. which is a much higher bar than when you're just discriminating against 18 year olds drinking.

are they? i'm not familiar with their admissions practices.

You should look up Central State University and Wilberforce University and then maybe you will understand my argument WRT legacy admissions and challenging your assertion that they are both socioeconomic and racial in nature.

Every year, the chances of that get lower and lower. Brown vs the Board of Education was in 1954. And even then, there existed schools with *gasp* black people!

Evidence that University of Michigan didn't admit black students. :colbert:

Also, why do you keep going back to grandpappy instead of pappy? Well other than the almost certainly obvious one that schools everywhere have admitted black students long enough that that a person's pappy could have attended.
