supper or dinner

'round here, dinner = lunch, supper = supper

breakfast->dinner->supper

wtf???

That's the way it used to be. Dinner was the hot meal of the day that was freshly prepared and supper was the leftovers. I personally think it makes far more sense to call the last meal of the day dinner now because that's typically the fresh dinner and then lunch the next day is the leftovers. I say dinner.

When I was young in Connecticut we always said supper and lunch was dinner.

Here in the People's Republic it is dinner.

Supper = Dinner = Evening meal, though i never use the word supper anyways.

My relatives in Alberta are all messed up, and often confuse me with their wierd meal name convention.

For them:
Breakfast => Dinner => Supper.
