HTF can you call lunch dinner? 😕

We eat, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Three square meals a day. None of which is supper!

When I was young in Connecticut we always said supper and lunch was dinner.

Here in the People's Republic it is dinner.

When the fvck was that, in colonial times? I'm in CT and dinner is dinner, lunch is lunch.

Im from CT to and its always been dinner.

Dinner refers to the largest meal of the day, whereas supper refers to the time of day you eat the meal. So dinner could be lunch or supper.

is your first name amy

I'm from CT where we called it dinner and I still do, but I am surrounded by Southerners now and they mostly call it supper. I can't stand that word. Always reminded me of Bonanza or something out of the Old West. I expect to see Hoss and the rest of the Cartwrights sit down and eat their supper.

Silly people....

Breakfast -> Lunch -> Supper

Dinner is whichever of those meals is generally your main meal of the day.

In my family dinner = supper because that's when the parents were home from work and I was home from school.

When my mom/dad were growing up dinner = lunch because they both grew up on a farm and that was when everybody got together to eat.

dinner is early, from about 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

supper is later, from about 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

so you can actually have both
