I don't live anywhere near any Office Depot's. In fact I have no idea where there are OfficeDepots but their website says there are none within 60 miles of me.

I tried ordering online but it was going to backorder it and it wouldn't take the coupon. So I called the phone number for orders given on the website and placed the order that way. The CSR said that he would put a note on the order so that when the hard drives came in they would know to put the $20 coupon on it. He also said the invoice would give the date as today so the rebates should work. They are supposed to call me when the hard drives come in before they bill my credit card. It sounds good to me. I figure if it gets too late so I won't be able to meet the postmark dates on the rebates i'll call in and cancel the order.

Just placed my order! 3 day delivery though, so I wouldn't see it till Thursday!

BTW, what's the model number for this drive? Is it the D740X (DiamondMax Plus) series?

It won't let you apply a coupon on a backordered item. People on FW are saying the csr's told them to enter the $20 coupon code in the comments box when checking out or call them after you place the order and they'll note it in the system.

Try using a different zip code for the same area. I used my home town zip code and was told no stock. I tried a neighboring town's zip code and bingo! I still couldn't check out with it. It stated backordered, but it did at least let me put it in my cart and show the coupon. I called the manager and he said he'd honor the coupon. Thanks for the deal. I needed a cheap drive. Here I come with 2 WD 60 gig drives and 3 Maxtor 40 gig drives in my system.

Funny thing about the description on the label for the two drives I purchased. One says access time of < 8.7 ms and the other states <8.0 Both kit numbers are the same (L01J040G). I wonder if one is older than the other. I'm off to check to see if these could be different drives. Anyone with input?

just got mine. I printed out my shopping cart with the coupon, went to the local OD and bought one. They had two more in stock (austin, TX lamar store). Total before rebates was 75.xx, so $15 for a 40gig ATA 133 drive after rebates. Not bad.

Thanks guys. Hopefully the rebates wont' be a huge hassle. Got 2 drives for my RAID (will replace my Maxtor 30GB/7200s) and another for a friend.

I'm so Happy :)

Normally I am always Half-a second too late to any deal, but this time I luck out in my local OfficeDepot.

I asked the manager to honor the $20 off the $75 deal, and to my surprised, she did.

My out the door price is $76.96 - 60 (rebate from both company) = $16.96

Not a bad deal for only $17. Even if they end up only Honor one of the $30 deal, $46.96 is still a Good Price for a 7200rpm 40G

Right On!

called local B&M this morning ... they had one left.

Told them to hold it for need4spd! They are always nice about holding items behind the counter...

Have a $10 off $50 Coupon.. (snail mailed to me last week).

$89.99 - $30 - $30 - $10 = $19.99 !!

W00T!! OMG... This is so much Hotter!!! Than it appears on the surface. Run don't walk to the nearest B&M..

I took my my shopping cart printouts with the errors and coupon to the B&M. Get the drive (3 on the shelf) and go to the register. CSR tells they couldn't take online coupons (just did it 3 days ago same store, like PM policies, store policies vary by employee.) but I could try to reorder for instore pickup using their computer. So he slides me a keyboard and mouse and goes about his business. I go to F@Twallet for coupon code. I paused a minute to savor the joy of having it up right there in the store on an official Office Depot Customer service desk PC. :D

I try to add to my cart for instore pickup and it's OOS, I call friendly CSR over he tries six times and says "That's not right we have 3 of these", gets frustrated and gives me a $20.00 overide.

Only problem was it's not ata/100 it's ATA/133!! :D That's right... It's a D740X, The model number is D740X-5L "L" denotes Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motors :D :D :D :D Hapy Happy Joy Joy!!! [/i]

I did the same thing with the printouts. Though I took a copy of the website referral approval web page and they honor it as a "9999" in-store coupon. My store's employee's have gotten to know me and I've given them a lot of business lately. They are very friendly and willing to do what it takes to please me, within reason.

Shelby

and the model number on the box matches both rebates!!!

I will be grinning all day and tryimg to stop myself from going back for the other 2 to make an ata/133 really quiet RAID5 Array... (must resist..)

docinthebox I could kiss you !!

I do not believe that part number tells you it had fluid bearings. There should be another number on the white tag on the drive itself that is something like 6L040J2 or 6L040L2. The J or L there will tell you if it is fluid it not. J is not and L is fluid.

Link for the NON-Fluid bearing drives.

Link for the Fluid bearing drives.

I just tried it, the website says oos, and then i tried local pickup, in the sf bay area, it said that almost 7 stores i picked at random in the bay area to be oos. Total b.s., i'm going to print out the page i got with - $20 off and go to a local od and get them to honor this if they have any in stock.

I called, used the 000003267 coupon, and they have it at the OD a mile away. She said they have none in California for delivery or shipment, but my local store has for pick up; Whatever. Bottom line, if its OD and its a backordered item, just call 888-463-3768 to order with the coupon code.
