Interesting...

Sun is actually making a turn around - yet the people 'in the know - yeah right' here have no clue.

As to the moron who cried about the speed of Suns 64 bit solution and their cost - you obviously have had your head in you a$$. Most of Sun's current 64 bit line-up consists of lower cost Opteron boxes. Which dollar for dollar are easily the best deal going right now.

I just wish people had a clue before they spouted off a bunch of crap. In my opinion, it is good to see Sun fight back. Right now they have a better product than the performance challanged junk that Intel's private retailer Dell is pimping to the world.

i posted this but figured you'd never find it in there...

iamwiz82, these are for x86 servers. they have OPTERONS in them. they're bad-ass. cheap, cool, fast, stable.

the sparc stuff, might have been good for its time when there werent excellent commodity servers, but now there are. so perhaps sun is a bit late, but they've showed up with a serious offering. especially when you compare it to XEON!

these are some sun ads that are pretty funny

and these are the product pages

Are those doctored up pictures?

If you look at the first post with pictures you see the banner on the planes left side at the bottom says "THANKS AMD!" then if you look at the next post that has links to pictures it says "WATCH OUT DELL!".

I doubt that they had two planes or changed banners so it would seem at least one of them has doctored up pictures.

My company used to use SUN workstations for ProE and for thermal and stress simulation programs and I can't ever remember ever getting a crash on one of the Sun workstations. I can see someone maybe complaining about the price, but they have to be more reliable than a DELL?

Yes..the "Watch Out Dell" is photoshopped on...looks like the text isnt flowing right with the banner.

The "look out dell" banner flew yesterday morning according to my neighbor.

I took the "Thanks AMD!" photos yesterday afternoon.

Yes it was REALLY over Dell's Round Rock,TX HQ.

Although this is funny, they really picked the wrong days and wrong month to do this, really really stupid in my opinion

And Airplane circling Dell with a message from Sun

And In the Austin paper today and the reply to it below it, Photo of Plane buzzing Dell though it only shows the banner.

And I went to Dell this morning... and its replies.

Working at Sun Austin in the hardware division, I'm glad to hear that not everybody has dismissed Sun as a has been.

I hope the next generation of multithreaded 64bit servers really beat the competition.

As to the flying banner, its news to me too.
