remember when "talkies" were considered by all as the death of film? Well...I don't either as that was before our time, :D, but it remains true that everything is conveyed first as a visual, and all sound is considered supporting effects. The home theater enthusiast believes, in their own mind, that this is not the case. But it remains true. (And I do like big sound, and I've spent a pretty penny on good sound).

You are of course entitled to that opinion but many many many professionals would disagree with you (I think you would disagree with you if you knew the scope of the undertaking to make the sound that goes along with your picture). Hell watch this made in 1968

should've been cut to 90 minutes tops

it could've been a much better movie with less CGI/SFX more acting.

the last...15 minutes or so I enjoyed.

I just saw it. It was good in that popcorn sort of way. If anyone knows who VC Andrews is, this movie would be the baby of VC Andrews and The Matrix, with the Wizard of Oz as grandparents.

I think the poster above is perplexed at the ending because the bulk of the movie is so distracting that you forget there was a point and that somebody was actually supposed to be escaping something. The ending made sense if you paid attention to the first few minutes.

totally, completely, utterly agree with that bolded comment. I only mentioned that b/c his previous movies were such quality (for what they were intended to be), that it is enough to give me the benefit of the doubt and check out his new films in the theater.

I also hate the loudness and piss-poor soundmixing of modern movies (fucking ridiculous brick-head mentality that over-samples subwoofer to the point that you can't garner any notion that this is a movie--a visual medium first, not a brain-numbing bassgasm fest. Again, i blame young dumb males).

The reviews sound really bad. And yeah, if this is snyder's own story, then it could be an issue that he's great at adapting good work, but terrible at creating his own.

Still, he's got more quality work out there than a guy like shamlamadingdong. :)

Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that they should tone down the bass. :)

Don't worry, they'll all go deaf in a few more years and won't hear you telling them they should have enjoyed the full range of pitches, not just bass.

The blonde girl is a red herring. The story is not really about her. It's about Sweet Pea. We first meet Sweet Pea when they enter the theater. She locks eyes with Sweet Pea as if there's a connection. When the blonde girl (why can't I remember her name?) sees the old man in the temple, he says the last thing she needs is a mystery.

At the end of the movie when she and Sweet Pea are escaping, she realizes the last thing needed is her. She says to Sweet Pea,"It's me. Of course it is. This was never my story anyway."

As they stood there near the cars, I was thinking wtf? also. Then she said that bit about it not being her story anyway, and I realized that she was supposed to be Sweet Pea's Guardian Angel (remember they were talking about it in the beginning of the movie...an old man, a little girl).

Anyway, that was what I got out of it. The were purposely obfuscating the storyline though. It seems to be "the thing" lately. So our confusion and the loose ends aren't actually surprising.

Theater sound volumes are so excessive nowadays that I actually bring earplugs.

Anyway, will wait for Sucker Punch to show up on Redbox. Shouldn't be long heh

God no... for some reason they all think just turning up the bass makes it more SPECIAL! OMG LOUD BOOM! OHHHHHHHH!!!! God it drives me nuts. I like bass, I love having a sub in my house and in my car. Neither will ever be blasted to an insane level shit is vibrating off my shelves. I actually love my Onkyo receiver so I can use the Late Night feature to undo the crap hollywood does to the movies.

The other movie recently that was really bad with this was Tron also.
