The poverty server is actually pretty snappy nowadays. Ads are no bother to me really. I was a subscriber for half a year, but there wasn't enough to draw me back.

Actually, I remember someone posting a pic in OT with a screenshot of their 99 year or similarly absurd subscription length. I think they tickled the right spot of someone to get a little something-something because they responded to astounded AT'ers by saying "No, I didn't just win the lotto and decide to burn money."

Also, let's remember what RossMAN found out:

I received a PM reply from Zuni, I guess the payment processor is no longer connected and it's now in Anand's hands. I told him that I would like to pay for 3 years of AT subscription for $90 if Anand gives the ok.

This doesn't sound like a formal decision, this sounds like someone not negotiating a new contract with the payment processor.

I don't see what the problem with the side ads are. I remember back when there used to be this ad at the bottom of the page that would flash YOU TEH WINNAR in like several alternating neon colors. THAT ad was just horrible. But the side ads don't flash or anything. On top of that, they don't even exist right now. Just a top piece that says "Advertisement" and then nothing underneath it.

Also, "Rossman Sited" could be a play on words because Rossman posted a link to his site in the thread.

I think people are more upset that they were lied to so they would subscribe. Instead of following through with the "new features," they decide to shut the server down.

A long time ago, there weren't ads flying in your face and making your screen smaller... and I don't feel like losing my PMs every month (100 Limit).

I love using the free servers and the 100pm limit doesn't bother me. Just need to be diligent on deleting old PMs. I wonder how much storage/bandwidth is used by Forums per month

Yep that will be tough deleting PM's as you receive and send them ... thank goodness for the PM export feature.

This is probably due to advertising.... I hate advertisers... they ruin so many things. Anand had to put the ads on the left or he woulda lost alot of income from lost advertisers.... if Anand gave in because some ad company requested him to... then I too will not be staying around.
