Two great videos I saw today:

Deadliest virus:
----- explained visually in a very easy to understand way

Best and worst scientist ever?
The hardass who married a student (i think) and then he neglected her so much she killed herself. And he skipped her funeral to work in the lab.

Smith's orders included, "kill everyone over the age of ten" and make the island "a howling wilderness."[3][4] Court-martialed for the incident,[1]he was dubbed "Hell Roaring Jake" Smith, "The Monster", and "Howling Jake" by the press as a result.[5] Most estimates are that American soldiers killed between 2,000 and 2,500 civilians. Some Filipino historians put the number as high as 5,000 civilians.[6]

looks like not much has changed, they almost held him accountable

In May 1902, Smith faced a court-martial for his orders, being tried not for murder or other war crimes, but for "conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline".

Interesting chart and appears accurate showing the US as the top "dirty-dog" worldwide historically. I would be interested to see the breakdown of when the polluting was done though... my guess is that back 30-40 years we were far worse than now.

For example I can recall riding close behind other cars back in the days before emission-control and pretty much "catching a buzz" from the eye-watering clouds of toxic gas they were spewing on a daily basis.

Also when I worked in NYC in the 1980's in Manhattan EVERYTHING got coated with a thin black/greasy film after awhile.... it was really gross. (every week or two I had to scrub my windshield with gasoline!)

The planet's a complicated machine. That's why my hair stands up whenever I hear a 'quick fix' to some problem that involves dicking with some seemingly trivial natural system/component. I don't think humans possess the knowledge to foresee the outcome.

Ecosystem balance brought about by introduction of wolves to Yellowstone national park.

Really makes it tough to feel any empathy at all for the greedy ranchers who believe all wolves should be killed off so they can continue making money destroying the environment.

ALL life is connected.

Shockingly those morons don't actually know better than mother-nature!

Thinking as neither an engineer nor a salesperson, I think both types of these professionals don't want everyone to have universal basic income :)
