Study finds smoking Cannabis can make you a nicer person.

What a surprise

Sorry, they say, "may".
That study seems very suspect with how narrowly focused it was, and especially over a time frame where smoking pot has largely been very taboo/illegal.

Interesting, considering that I've also read of studies that indicated that smoking Cannabis could make you more prone to violent crimes including domestic abuse.
Yeah, I don't know about it causing violence. Maybe in unstable people but my experience is that it tends to mellow people out mostly, take things in stride.

Weed was also pretty much crap 50 years ago compared to today. Perhaps the anger was after getting a bag that was 40 percent seeds and stems.
My first ounce had lots of seeds and stems. I removed them and the rest lasted 2+ years IIRC and was magnificent. I wasn't angry. It was NOT crap!

Simply shocking that young white men who were already prone to criminal behavior (99% of people who smoked pot back then) have a tendency to be violent.

That study is completely valueless based on the way it was conducted.

The only thing that's MORE likely to be subjected to violence after smoking weed is a tray of brownies!

You must roll like one of my older brothers. I always tease him with the Cheech and Chong "Is that a toothpick?" thing.
An ounce lasts me maybe a month these days. Hard to tell because I have six different kinds going on here now. Legal weed has cut prices here by about 50% so I've been indulging lately.

Variety is the spice of life! (literally in this case!) 😉

Anytime I start feeling bad about any aspect of my life (or the world) I remember that I can now legally buy weed & it suddenly doesn't seem nearly as serious!

I should really get back into it. Honestly, one or two tokes and I'm "gone!" Well, not super high but out of my "comfort zone" and TRIPIN'! I suppose if I smoked it "regularly" it would morph into a different kind of thing for me. A friend laid a couple of 8oz bottles (by volume) of their home grown on me around 3 years ago, I have around 97% of that left, froze most of it.

That first ounce (I was about 21) lasted a long time. Bought it in Harlem (edit: The Village) off the BF of my cousin's roommate. A little later I bought the simplest of pipes in Chinatown San Francisco, a long piece of hollow wood with brass on both ends. I cut down the wood some, it just seemed too long. I still have that pipe after all these years and I use it when I smoke my weed. The only other mod I've done is to push a small fine metal screen into the bowl. It's an effective and economical way to get high alone... a joint keeps burning between tokes, but I can control this by putting only so much in the bowl. I use a cigarette lighter.

Edit: I have another pipe, a fancy evidently "commercial" wooden thing someone left here that has a swivel top that will starve the burning mass of oxygen, putting it out between uses. Its bowl is big enough for 1/2 dozen people to hit on. Actually, I can't remember using it. Typically I just reach for that simple pipe I bought in Chinatown around 1964.

I think it was Ella Fitzgerald who said "when I feel low I get high!"

Weed has come a long long ways. Microdosed gummies and things like that are really all the positives and none of the negatives. I haven't had any weed in probably at least 10 years but the tail end of my weed days I was vaping high quality stuff that I had grown myself

I use a glass "bat", or one-hitter. Just a small, straight tube of pyrex or borosilicate about the size of a cigarette, each packing is 2, maybe 3 puffs. Works excellently for conserving. I smoked socially for the most part when I was younger...now it's medicinal, at home by myself. The one-hitter is perfect for that.

I prefer a medium-size glass bong equipped with a glass-screened 1-hit bowl.... not quite as efficient as a pipe but MUCH easier on the lungs/throat since the smoke is filtered and cooled.

It got us high, what can I say.

A hardcore cannabis grower in Maine lent me a book as his way of proving me wrong after we disagreed (my ignorance in chemistry was to blame). The pics were amazing, like Nat Geo quality stuff, anyway one of the key points I remember the author making was that there is a lot of variety in the active ingredients among different strains. Pretty sure he was an authority. A plant with a relatively low THC rating can still mess you up, sometimes as much or more than other strains with higher THC ratings. An exception - cannabis from areas around Malawi in Africa. Both landrace genetics and something about the reddish soil there I think it was, makes for true death cabbage apparently. Their plants contain an additional chain of cannabinoid called THCV, quite potent. That was the book I learned about what Thai stick is. I had no idea, would definitely not touch it now. Opiates bad.

Full spectrum salves and micro-dosing with edibles is good enough for me. Inflammation, nerve damage and past injuries be damned, I want nothing to do with pills other than Aleve.

No doubt about it... chasing high THC numbers is mostly pointless and will not result in getting the best bud only in paying substantially more. (The "sweet-spot" for me seems to be 25-28%)

IME anything above roughly 31-32% THC really kills terpene-levels in particular so the bud tends to be "one-note" in terms of flavor/scent. I also find that super-high THC bud (say 35-36% or above) tends to just knock me out more than it provides an enjoyable "high".

Volcano? Same guy I previously mentioned had one, that was his preferred method other than cooking with it.
