All I know is vaping distillates isn't for me at all. Couple years ago a friend had some high tech pen model he wanted me to try. I had a couple free hours on a weekend and thought, Ok, let's see what everyone is raving about. No combustion, it's all good, right? Nope. I coughed and wheezed for the rest of the day and into the next, like I had been stacking a barn full of hay. Almost felt like an allergy kicking in, hard to describe but it definitely removed any and all curiosity I had about the canna oil scene.

Fwiw, I have tried a Volcano. Vaping flower different somehow? No issues beyond feeling the need to cook a 5 course meal, and sleep.

Thanks. I have been checking out @dank69's Firefly 2+. I know nothing about these things. I have read a bunch of the reviews. Seems good for dry buds. There are optional things though, which makes it more complicated/confusing.

If you decide to go with a weed-vape I would lean more towards a desk-top model which will have a good-sized bubble-chamber and more in the way of capacity/power.

Something like this expensive ($399!) one would be the best choice as it will allow you to vape anything by swapping out an attachment:

Dr. Dabber SWITCH Kit

A slightly more reasonably priced ($249) yet still fairly flexible option:

Pulsar RoK Electric Dab Rig

That diamond beaker looks good and the reviews inspire but when I try to "Choose color" there's no option shown, so can't add it to Cart. I suppose this implies it's OOS? Tried my usual Chrome, same thing happens in Edge.

Worst comes to worst they do pick up the phone during business hours. (bought my daughter a glass dab-rig here)

Also be sure to sign up for the email promo 15%(?) off.

Btw I picked up 7g's of this 29% Indica-leaning hybrid today: :)

Didn't see their promo. Maybe I'll call and ask about that.

Edit: On top of page I see get extra 10% off order using coupon code SUN10, 18 hour expiration and they have a second by second countdown. They're clearly OOS on the diamond beaker 11.8".

I'm really in the dark on this stuff. Have close to no idea on the whys and wherefores. One thing's for sure, I'm not a heavy user, right now practically a non-user and figure the chance of my being even an average user in terms of amount smoked is low.

Purr makes some really good bubblers and bongs, super high quality but also pricey cuz they are actually made in California.

I have the hammer bubbler and love it. They make a lot of other stuff check the website out.

In that case I would say don't spend too much.... stay away from Ebay or Amazon though and stick with actual head-shops so you get something quality that's worth buying.

Other day I watched a YT video by a guy with Purr, extolling one of their bongs. I didn't check the price, but figured it had to be up there based on his presentation.

Pax 3 for me, i've tried everything else and it's the smoothest, even better when you have the attachment that lets you connect it to a bong

Yeah I looked at those too but went with the Firefly because it is true convection vs. conduction. If I only vaped at home I'd invest in a Volcano.

I bought a S&B Mighty but just found that the vape wasn't as smooth as the Pax , after about 4 minutes the vape is harsh as hell

Thanks.

How does this honestly compare in terms of features with that other one you linked me that's OOS? Only 4 reviews for this one. They do say it's thick glass.

What do you make of that Firefly 2+ for me? Totally different system from a glass bong I guess. I have no idea!

I think that bong is pretty much the same as the first one except for the shape of the "beaker" part.... my guess is people don't like the second one as much which is why its in stock.

The Firefly is a quality piece but if you plan on mainly using it inside the house I would get something larger/more versatile and with a built in water-filter/bubbler.

I have a Pax oil-vape and it works well but I rarely use it.

It hits very well but the one complaint I have about it is that that battery dies sitting unused in like 2-3 days... I have a couple older cheapo Chinese vape-batteries that hold a charge for weeks!

I just pop some flower in there and then hit it for 10 minutes or so, good for 4 bowls , have only seen a slight decrease in charge in the 5 years i've been using it

I definitely consider weed and mushrooms as being positive influences in my own life as well as in my friends. Decriminalization has gone really well here in B.C. as far as I can tell. Certainly made the smoking areas more convivial and aromatic at the ferry terminals for example.

Don't get me wrong its a high-quality vape its just that I don't use it all the time only when I'm doing something outdoors and don't want to deal with bringing anything bulky. It really sucks having to charge it every single time even if its only been sitting 2-3 days.

Especially when my $15 "510" Yocan oil vape that's been sitting unused in my drawer for a good 2+ MONTHS still has enough juice to take multiple hits! (just tried it now)

Maybe I should email Pax support and see if they think I have a defective battery.

I use a glass "bat", or one-hitter. Just a small, straight tube of pyrex or borosilicate about the size of a cigarette, each packing is 2, maybe 3 puffs. Works excellently for conserving. I smoked socially for the most part when I was younger...now it's medicinal, at home by myself. The one-hitter is perfect for that.
Can you link me? I'm shopping for something new to get high, which I've only done quite occasionally in recent years. One or two tokes is all I have been doing. I think what I've been doing with my primitive pipe isn't all the good for me physically, probably too much tars, etc. and maybe harsh with the heat... TIA!

You can also get these without the "dugout" weed carrying case for between $1 and $2 each depending on location. (often referred to as "chill-ums")

My local dispensary has them pre-packed too. :)

Locking Wooden Dugout – African Mahogany @ $26

african-mahogany-dugout-glass-featured-800x800.jpg.webp

This is a fancy one but you get the idea... these have been around forever and if you don't plan on smoking a lot might be ideal for you.
(there are quite a few cheaper options many with the one-hitter made of brass which is much more durable)
Yeah, these are a classic on-the-go item, I first encountered one around the time I first started smoking in the 90s. Those ones pretty much all had the one-hitter done up to look like a filtered cigarette, of course.

This is exactly what I was referring to, and I prefer the glass over brass or ceramic (the ones that look like cigarettes are often ceramic now instead of painted steel). I mostly smoke at home, so I don't worry about the durability of the glass bat. I found my one-hitters in a local headshop, but I think I had ordered the dugout separately on amazon.

These are similar, but slightly larger than the one above. The 'bowl' on them tend to be larger and deeper, and can be hard to cash out if you pack them full. I have one of these as well, but I never use it.

Can you link me to a specific item? For instance at ebay or whereever? I'm seeing things looking up one hitter or glass one hitter or brass one hitter or that mahogany one hitter but I can't see or imagine where the weed goes or which one(s) would be right for me and why?

Inside the wood part is an open area where you put your ground up bud and then you use the "bat" part to scoop it out one hit at a time. (hence the name "dugout") It will also have a compartment to store the bat.

Simple/cheap ones will have a little sliding piece of wood over the top and more expensive will have little hinged doors, some with locks or latches and sometimes onboard accessories like a cleaning tool.

That's the "smaller" type, good for just a few hits at a time. The end with the interior pinch is where you pack it. I'm not sure what type of glass it is though, the descrip doesn't specify. Borosilicate or Pyrex is most durable and heat-resistant.

FWIW, I only use my dugout to store the one-hitter, since I use it at home anyway. I keep my herb in a small, machined metal canister. It's a little easier to pack the one-hitter from (sometimes the dugout compartments can be hard to scoop from with the bat).
