dont forget SSN, passport #, bank account #, debit cards, IP address, tax information, and your girlfriend's naked photos. Did i miss anything?

Shoe size

Revealing private information is completely a different issue than a public company not revealing its everyday activities.

You know what, you could rationalize it anyway you want to, but the bottom line is he broke a law and he will have his day in the court.

Enh, who cares. The kid was foolish and commited theft. If anything he probably made it worse for these hackers seeing as now Directv can change the specs before they launch their new security. He wasted his time anyhow. Most of these hackers will probably have Directv's new security cracked within a few hours of it's release.

so, you think that the company should reveal its trade secrets. is it any different than me having a personal password for a lockbox at a bank that contains those same secrets?

He stole secret documents. Being 19 he prolly didn't realize the seriousness of what he was getting into. What's so fvcked up?
if you are so stupid at 19 as to not know something of this nature is serious, then you need to be in prison for life.
rid society of one more dumb@ss.

No matter where he is from that fact is that he broke the law and he has to pay for it. If any of us went abroad and did the same thing we would be subject to the laws of that land (let us not forget the kid that got canned for keying a car in the 90's) So I say lock him up or sent him back to where he came from.

That's my point. Age and inexperience are no excuse to do stupid things. Especially this dude who is over 18 anyways.

tcsenter is still living in the cold war age. Without the commie Russkies, the right-wingers in this country have noone to contrast themselves to, so they can feel better about themselves. These Russian Commies running around the US are just in his head. What tcsenter doesn't know is that the Russians are not a great collectivistic society of old, but one that has been fairly rapidly moving towards capitalism. For example Russia has a flat tax of about 13%, something the conservatives in this country have been dreaming about for years. And while US economy is in a slump, Russian economy has been rapidly expanding
Ford is building Focus cars in Russia now for example. You need to open your eyes. Russia is nowhere near the US economically, but the momentum is good.
This Russian kid was probably an permanent resident, as Los Angeles has a huge Russian community, and was not acting on behalf of the Russian government anyways. KGB would not be sending spies to steal technology so that they can watch cable for free. He's not Russian Spy, he's a stupid kid who happens to be Russian.
As far as Russia not having anything worth spying for, that's a bunch of BS. Just the other day an American spy was convicted of trying to acquire information about a Russian rocket propelled supersonic torpedo. Russia takes espionage very seriously, which is why GPS devices are not allowed in Russia.

Wow, that's a lotta flappin O' the gums you did there, but not a word of it addresses or counters anything I stated. You're created quite a nice strawman there, DumperTool.

Well, you might have actually attempted to address one thing, that the former USSR has anything of value to us. BAWHAHAHAHAAHAH!

We've been after that cabbage borscht for...EVAR! We'll get it, too.

I have to say this...Kasparov, you are a dumbass. For several reasons.
1) HE IS 19. He isn't some little kid. He fully knew what he was doing, and what the risks were.
2) How can you justify what he did as ok? He STOLE private information, and then publicly displayed it. Don't give me that BS about how its a public company....just because a company has stocks doesn't mean they don't own anything.
3) THe price of cable/satellite also does NOT justify what he did. You want competition? Start your own damn company. Stealing is only gonna drive the prices higher, jackass.
4) Don't even bother saying this crime shouldn't put him in jail with rapists. For one thing, you don't know if he will get jailtime or not. And if he does, how is he being lumped with rapists? They will be in there many, many years, he will not.
5) You get so upset when people mention that he is russian. Going by your name, I'd say you are Russian as well. Maybe, just maybe, you are so strongly for this guy because you are both Russian? Ever occur to you that you wouldn't give a rats ass were he not?

The guy broke the law, he pays the price. End of story.

The funny thing is, not a single person has sympathized with this ADULT who broke US laws while a guest here except Kasper. Nobody.

He acts like I was the only one. lmao! I needed a little entertainment today.

You don't know what you are missing 😀
I have my grandpa's beet and cabbage borscht recipe right here. Yummy.
If you tried it, you would kill for the recipe.
CIA isn't getting their hands on this puppy 🙂

Elaborate, please.

I often disagree with tscenter, but I must say that he has good opinions and often adds to threads, rather than detracting.

Franky, I am surprised that no one sympathizes with my view also. Whenever there is a case involving MP3 downloading or Divx movie downloads from P2P systems, people rally around the downloader, and call the RIAA and MPAA monopolists and theives.

I wonder why people don't look at the TV the same way. Same monopolies, same bully tactics.

TSCenter is obviously a racist or at the very least anti-immigrant.
Deeko has stooped to personal attacks.

I would say that someone who downloads illegal mp3s and videos is a thief. I think that the RIAA and MPAA are monopolistic, and that they should be dealt with as such, but until they are disbanded, one should act according to the laws of this country.

Tscenter has good data and logic behind his opinions.

As for Deeko, you respond by lowering yourself to that level. How revealing.

you're probably right, probably shouldn't have responded to deeko.
As for TScenter, he might be a bright guy. But look at his previous posts, he is anti-immigrant.

How? Point it out.

"Immigrants have no "right" to be here, they are here because WE ALLOW THEM TO BE GUESTS in our country. If they commit ANY crimes, if they get a parking ticket, we can and we should deport their ass back to whatever hole in the ground they came from." -- TScenter

Is this obviously not rascist (or at the very least anti-immigrant)?

How would Russian authorities react if an American exchange student were to do a similar thing?
