Good thing I didn't attend this event.. gave my tickets away on Reddit on Friday :)

Lol @ people claiming Randy Couture is the greatest american MMA fighter... Hendo is EASILY the greatest american fighter of all time, and a TRUE American at that.

After this event, if Fedor continues to fight this is what he needs to do:

- stop training with Kirill Sidilnikov; train with world class grapplers and strikers.. NOT just make 2 trips to Holland, but train his ground game with the likes of Maia/Jacare/Werdum, and the same with his striking
- stop trying to end the fight in 1 minute with a KO; be patient and calm and relaxed like he was in Affliction/PRIDE
- train in a cage 100% of the time, not on mats with Kirill and a boxing ring with Denis Lebedov... he's a master of the ring but he's only had a few fights in a cage. Sure he used to train in a cage back in the Red Devil days but everytime you see sparring footage, you never see him in a cage.

People saying he was always overrated are morons. They have to realize that he's basically training with bums and has world class skills, while every other fighter is training with top competition.. you cannot deny his raw natural talent.. you cannot deny that he is *the* most exciting fighter there *EVER* was in MMA.

All of his last 3 opponents are legit.

In before the GSP > Shields > Hendo > Fedor and Anderson > Hendo > Fedor MMA math chains.

It also sucks that Marloes Coenen lost to Tate...
Yep, I think that is the strong consensus opinion.

I thought a guy summed it up really well with pics though (they really are worth a 1000 words) Prime vs 2011 Fedor

Looking forward to the September card, will be going to Cincinatti for that one. Wish i'd be seeing the Reem on that, but oh well. First live Strikeforce event for me, been to a few UFCs and Bellator, but not Strikeforce.

Looks like a steroid vs no steroids in my opinion. Fedor looks like a bum. I mean come on really. Is there any reason a professional athlete should look like that coming into a fight?

I've been to 2 strikeforce events, and 1 UFC event. Quite honestly, I preferred the Strikeforce ones. They had so many prelim fights where guys just go crazy, and they keep the fights going. UFC just drags their events on. Plus I got to see Hendo knock Babalu silly... where my UFC was seeing Cote quit against Silva...

As a human I want Fedor to retire and be happy with his family, he's already done way more than enough and proven himself in his undefeated 10 year streak..
As an avid fan of MMA I want Fedor to not retire and get a rematch with Werdum/Bigfoot and/or get a match with the winner of SF HW gp tournament, win that, face the UFC HW champion, destroy them and retire on a good note.

Always and forever a Fedor fan. You can tell a real fan from when a fighter loses, all the bandwagon morons will jump off and the real fans will stay on.

i agree. Fedor needs to train with elite people. he has the skill he just does not train up to it.

though also he is getting old. he is slower then he has ever been.

perhaps it is time for him to retire. go out as king instead of pissing it away.

Herb Dean is the biggest POS ref ever. I like Dan and Fedor and didnn't really care who won, but that was premature stoppage.

It really wasn't that bad, when I watched it at first I couldn't tell when he stopped it but after seeing it in slow motion a few times Fedor was out. I agree that I would have liked Herb gave Fedor a few seconds to recover but hewas clearly out and time to recover might not have helped that since Hendo was on top raining down bombs.

I don't know man, I read he stop lifting weights. As Ahnold would quip "Big mistake!"

Mauro said something like "This is the best shape I've ever seen him in!" While his gut was flapping around obscuring his shorts. He has always had a tire, but it used to be fairly inflated, now it is saggy. His upper body is less muscular than the prime Fedor, and his traps are almost completely gone.

he has never looked like a fighter. he has so much skill that it don't matter. well it didn't matter. Fighters today are damn good. he needs more then pure skill.

personally i think a big part of it is he is old.

I really agree with woosta on this one, he needs a camp revamp. He's not too old imo, he has just become complacent. Who knows, he may not be as into it as he used to be, would kind of explain him the last few outings.

You don't think it is a bit odd to point out he is 34, when Dan is 40? Randy was winning in his mid 40's, and even Anderson is older than Fedor. If he appears biologically older, it is due to either bad genetics, or bad training habits. He needs less dry saunas with other nekid men, and more resistance training IMO. :colbert:

Fedor Lost to Hendo
who lost to Jake Shields
who lost to GSP
who lost to Matt Hughes
who lost to BJ Penn
who lost to Frankie Edgar (2x)
= Fedor would lose to Frankie Edgar, a natural feather weight. Pretty sad.

sure and Dan ain't the fighter he was same with Randy.

Randy trained like a freak though. IF fedor did that from the start? yeah scarey to think about. he is way beyond others in pure skill. but in training? pfft.

It was not an early stoppage. Fedor was getting hit with several hard shots and not defending himself adequately. You can't give a fighter 15 seconds of undefended bombs to his face just because he moves around a bit. That said, he wasn't "out" in the lost consciousness sense; just in the fighting sense (dazed and unable to intelligently defend himself). If you fall face forward and slam your head on the canvas after getting hit, there's a good chance it can and should be stopped.

sure you can. it happens a lot. all depends on which guy the ref bet on.

Then it should be (Serra || GSP) > Shields > Hendo > Fedor. They're 1-1.

I've never seen it. I'm not talking about being in a turtle shell position or the like. Fedor had his arms down and was making no serious effort to prevent the bombs from hitting him. Just turning around slightly is not enough.

why are you mixing fedor with serra-gsp-shields? he is heavier, 234lbs. fedor is a heavy weight.
