in online play, i was wondering if keyboard macros can be used and whether there's an "unwritten rule" prohibiting it or not.

i dont see why not.. the keyboard still has to execute the button's, but there will not be a human error.

on a different note.. can anyone tell me the population for PC lets say vs PS3...id love to play Street fighter where the population was bigger and with a better looking game. the ps3 in some situations look boxy

I disagree. Human error is part of the game, and by eliminating that you're cheating. If the devs wanted you to pull off a combo with one button, then it would only take one button. Getting better at your timing and stuff is part of the fun.

It's official. I'm the lord of the idiots. I bought a TE Stick then regretted it, so I sold it because I really wanted the money back. Now I wish I still had the stick.

I just got the game 2 weeks ago. Are there not many people playing ranked and championship? It doesn't seem like many play that unless it is jsut b/c I am low level.

Read my post above. There are not many people playing Championship. There are more playing ranked, and the most seem to play "player" mode.

I only use keyboard and do ok. I am getting better. I would actually recommend a keyboard over gamepad any day, except for 360 moves. Obviously joystick is the best way to go.

If anyone wants to play, send me an IM. Not sure that I will offer you a great challenge depending on your skill level, but I will offer some challenge :D

Will a cheaper, older Hori stick be fine for this game or do I need to go all out again and get the TE stick for the best experience?

Try what you have first, and if it doesn't work for you, buy something else.

Yeah. Hori makes good sticks, and I'm sure it'll be better than a controller. What stick is it?

It's the Hori UHP3-01 I think. I've heard good and bad about it, but more bad. I don't want to buy the TE stick twice out of principle, but it was nice while I had it.

Either way, I swear some of these people have program pads or some shit because they never fail or fuck up moves.

On a good 4-5 bar connection I rarely every mess up 2 frame links. 1 frame links I land about 70% of the time.

As for keyboard programed macros. It's generally frowned upon by the community to be using it but anyone relying on it can a best only beat shoryuken spamming noobs anyway. Against a half decent player that can bait you into starting your macro, you'll get destroyed.

Play the game you paid for how you want, but expect people to start avoiding you if they suspect you're using macros

I don't own a Ps3, but from what I read you will encounter skillful players more frequently on the PS3. PC version is filled with keyboard or logitech USB pad users who picked up the game off steam for casual enjoyment. Also some people have really bad computers that cause major slowdown during game play.

I bought the SE stick and didn't like it. The thing doesn't seem to register all the stick movements and button presses. I just ordered a Sanwa stick and buttons to mod it with. Hopefully that will help. Still ended up spending $100 on the damn thing even if it works like I hope it will. I might as well have gone all out for the TE stick myself...

Hmm, I didn't know there were Sanwa brand sticks, or do you mean the Mad Catz TE stick?

The Madcatz Tournament Edition SF4 Fightstick already has Sanwa parts. I didn't realize how shitty the bargain-bin stick and buttons that come with the Standard Edition Fightstick would be, so I went with the SE stick because it was half the price of the TE stick. It turns out that you can purchase Sanwa joysticks and push-buttons that are drop-in replacements for the crappy stock equipment in the SE edition Fightstick, so I'm trying that. I found mine here. It's not really worth it monetarily speaking, as amazon has the TE stick for $130 and I will have spent over $100 on my SE stick and voided the warranty to boot after this. I'm a sucker for DIY projects like this though. We'll see how it goes.

Does anyone have the Hori EX2 stick? I'm looking for a cheaper fight stick since I don't really wanna spend $100+.

To answer my own question, I ended up getting the Hori EX2 and am fairly happy with it.

If you want to see some absolutely beatiful custom made arcade sticks though, check out this guy's site

Edit: I changed my mind about the EX2. It sucks and I'm returning it.

btw, they announced Super SFIV, but for PS3 and 360. it is stand alone, so some may want to hold off for this assuming it comes out for PC.

I definetly would rather have the newest iteration, however, im worried that they wont bring it to PC if people dont buy the other one

yeah capcom said for owners of SFIV, there will be something special when they buy Super SFIV. but yeah, i don't think it sold very well on PC so it may never come to PC.

I think it will. Apparently Capcom developed the game on PC and then ported it over 360/ps3 so it wouldn't make much sense not to release it on pc. I think they haven't announced it yet because the pc version has only been out for a few months, and they want people to buy that rather than wait for the sequel. What is surprisingly in doubt is whether there will be an arcade release of SSF4.
