Being boxed in is not an excuse. As a motorist - you are responsible to be aware of your surroundings. There is a thing on cars called a brake that when pushed, slows down or stops the vehicle. Had the mustang driver been paying attention to the road, he wouldn't of hit the parked vehicle.

how the fvck do people get the conclusion that it's staged? who in their right mind would gather a bunch of people on a freeway and prepare fatal accidents to be caught on tape?

strangely, lots of Fords, mostly American cars involved.

Foreign cars are harder to wreck.
... or have better brakes or smarter drivers ?

Oh Jesus H Christ. That's fvcking ridiculous. I mean come on. Seriously.
You guys take "import fanboyism" to record levels.
In case you hadn't noticed, there's a goddamn VAN parked in the LEFT LANE of a BUSY FREEWAY at NIGHT.

Unless you were just being sarcastic..in which case, I think I need a new meter.

European Code lenses with HID headlights would have helped.

Kind of weird that the cars are crashing into those stationary cars when it's so obvious... must be staged...
look again, the cars that crashed are not hitting their brakes after their wreck (no brake lights)... so people coming in at 50mph+ with no depth perception at night are assuming it's all good...

Pile-ups happen because of this initially... then when everyone starts noticing and brake lights are abound... then you just have a regular traffic jam.

This is exactly what happened.

my electrical system went haywire once and my car stalled on the highway with no functioning blinkers or otherwise

Some freaking idiot park their van on the highway with lights off. Then they film the whole incident.

It looks like that could have been either the 405 or the 170 according to that street sign. It was definitely in Burbank, CA

edit: I located the site of the accident using that freeway sign and my map software. Southbound 405 near Van Nuys airport.

LA. Notice the sign overhead says "Ventura Fwy." And yeah, freakin' terrible drivers. Classic LA drivers, go as fast as you can with no driving skill whatsoever while not paying attention to anything but your cell phone/passenger/stereo/etc. I hate driving in LA.

No way this was staged. Looks like a worker was filming a construction zone because (being LA) they just knew there were going to be accidents. I mean, look... an idiot ran right into the back of a goddamned van at 50+ mph without even touching the brakes.

You are correct.

This is the Southbound 405 freeway between Roscoe Blvd and Victory Blvd...just before the Sherman Way off ramp. I live close by and pass this freeway everyday.

This is not a staged highway accident...I'm pretty sure abt it.. I actually saw this footage fm our local TV news, 1 or 2 years ago. The guy talking was a TV News reporter. If my memory serves me right, he was talking abt driving safely at construction zones...maybe it was even raining before the accident. Forgot if the shot was live on the air.

I think, there was a previous accident before the one shown that is why their video was trained on it The 405 freeway was under noise abatement program...workers were constructing concrete walls to lessen traffic noise for residence near it.

LA drivers are notorious especially during rainy weather...you just don't know how many accidents we have during that time.

Did you watch the same video I did?

With people driving like that, there is no way in hell I'm getting out of the car to run across that highway.

That's nuts, I figured it was a camera crew filming something else because of the fuzzy letters on the upper right of the footage.

I can't believe that people think this is staged. There are places where you just KNOW there will be accidents.

Ever see when there's a snowstorm and the news crews show crashing cars? All you have to do is find a bad place and wait. The crashes will happen.
