Will you vote for him if he doesn't sign the Bill?

He allowed the patriot act to be extended. He's allowing the US to become a "battlefield", he's letting the TSA run free, he was at the helm for obamacare.

So no. I don't see him coming back from things like that.

And it isn't like there is anyone else hugely attractive. I'll just be a crazy and go libertarian.

Why doesn't the Right show him love when he embraced so many of Bush's policies?

Because a lot of the right was down on Bush too, and Obama in many ways turned out to be a continuation of Bush. Lack of change.

The patriot act, NDAA and such should not be allowed.

One of the biggest events happening for the Internet, and this thread is nearly dead - of course, that's just a mirror of how most of America doesn't even know this is happening.

agreed. too many are consumed by party politics to give a care, or will even support such a retarded measure it if is spinned to put the 'other party' down when its really just going to fuck us all.

It's been like 11 years of Bush so far. No complaints from me. I know a lot of Republicans that'll just be staying home on election day because the current crop of (R) nominees sucks and Obama, as it turns out, isn't any different than what they were used to.

ActiveX posted in the more recent (now closed) thread that GoDaddy reversed it's decision to support SOPA. I find that interesting because just yesterday I read that XDA-Developers decided to pull it's business away from GoDaddy due to their (GoDaddy's) support of SOPA. I'll bet that other online businesses also threatened to leave and eventually enough pressure in the form of lost $$ was applied to convince them to reverse their position.

Rule #1 - Any time you want to know why things happen "follow the money trail."

It bears repeating the list of the corporate and public sponsors of SOPA (Also originally posted by ActiveX in the closed thread.) Source: http://www.godaddy.com/newscenter/release-view.aspx?news_item_id=380&isc=smtwsup

Internet censorship should be the highest priority issue for everyone, regardless of political leaning. If we allow government to strangle the last form of free media, we are rendered useless to run a democracy.

This is a very reasonable and accurate post.

Google should wipe out search results to companies and politicians supporting SOPA, let them get a taste of their own medicine.

I'm totally against any bills like SOPA but do think the internet needs some accountability for being able to determine who is using the connection . Currently you can go online and commit crimes that would be punishable if done any other way. I am not talking about piracy but things like hate crimes, death threats, stalking, intimidation of others, etc. I think there needs to be some form of identification where an ip is 100% trackable to the person using it, not just the pc using it.

As far as governments controlling the internet, it isn't possible. The reason is that people will just go wireless. It might take time but there is nothing stopping individuals from setting up their own wireless mesh networks across the country that couldn't be controlled.

And so, SOPA is dead.
White House blasts Internet piracy bills
The Obama administration said over the weekend that it would not support legislation mandating changes to Internet infrastructure to fight online copyright and trademark infringement.

"Proposed laws must not tamper with the technical architecture of the Internet through manipulation of the Domain Name System (DNS), a foundation of Internet security," the administration said in a statement on Saturday. "Our analysis of the DNS filtering provisions in some proposed legislation suggests that they pose a real risk to cybersecurity and yet leave contraband goods and services accessible online. We must avoid legislation that drives users to dangerous, unreliable DNS servers and puts next-generation security policies, such as the deployment of DNSSEC, at risk."

Excellent
