Thanks for the suggestion.
I was even thinking of putting a button right on the IE toolbar (next to stop, reload, print, etc). Maybe in the next version (1 week or so :))

If not, why not open the source? You could even sign up for a sourceforge account, and have a cvs-server and mailing list setup for you.

Most importantly, flashout.sourceforge.net would be a cool URL to put in your resume.

Thanks Bart, I will either sell it or make it open source :D
I don't think it would be fair to sell it. People deserve to get a FREE awesome Web surfing experience.

So I guess, Sourceforge, here I come. I just don't want to spend hours supporting the free application, you know? ;)

So what happens when you go to my site (link below) that requires flash? If it doesn't detect it, then it should go to a "noflash" page automatically... does this happen ?
I got this:
To view this webpage, the Flash 5 player must be installed.

{ Download/Install }

{ Detect / Launch Again }

Is this a prompts from Internet Explorer or from the Website itself? My program makes Web sites think that Flash is not even installed.

From the website

Then, it works as expected :). Thank you for taking the time to explain.

Fine, I finally caved and downloaded it.

And my ONLY suggestion would be, somehow putting it in the system tray instead of the taskbar (As stated above), and then allowing to toggle it on/off with the click of the mouse.

That seems actually kind of cool to do. If you want help with that, let me know. (I DO NOT have uber l337 skills, but I'd be willing to learn.)

Thank you for your offer to help, but I've done this a few dozen times myself before :). Even so, it would be better to have that icon right in the IE toolbar so that you can toggle flash with literally one click of a mouse button.

Since you guys have been so nice in checking out my program, I feel obligated to do this for you. Give me a day or two.

Bump for a toggle in the taskbar, and for a great program -- The last few days, my browser was just sitting there as I visited anandtech while I scratch my head... duh... Then I remembered your cool proggie - loading much faster now.

Thanks again !!

FlashOut 1.21 is now available for download!

FlashOut is a freeware utility to safely disable and enable Flash for Internet Explorer.
It even eliminates Flash pop-ups.

You can enable and disable Flash without even closing your browser!

It is not a "local proxy", so it does not do any content filtering and does not interfere with your Web surfing.
It is not a plugin, so it does not slow down your browser or take up additional memory.

Download here - 55 KB including the installer wizard. Small and fast, written in VC++.
You can install the new version right over the old one, without uninstalling first.

Screenshot is available.

By disabling Flash, you can still support your favorite Web site (such as Anandtech) and allow regular
banners to load, but you will not be harassed by the annoying walking talking Flash animations.

Why anyone would want to disable Flash:
[*]Many people find Flash to be extremely annoying and distracting
[*]Flash is rarely used for a legitimate reason, and is usually used in animated ads/banners
[*]Flash loading and initialization slows down your surfing

Instructions:
Simply download the program from the link above and install it using the included Setup wizard.
When you disable Flash, a small cross (x) will be shown in place of a Flash animation.

Features:
[*]Disables Flash in a non-destructive way, with a click of a button.
[*]Allows you to re-enable Flash with a click of a button.
[*]User-friendly and even beautiful.
[*]No annoying prompts from Internet Explorer regarding Flash not being installed.

Guarantee:
I guarantee that are no backdoors or trojans in this program.
It does not collect any information about you or your surfing.
I did my best to make sure that this program is bug-free.

(If I wanted to distribute a virus, it would certainly not be under my username here on Anandtech).

Updates:
1.21:
Put in new icons.

1.2:
Converted the interface to the Windows XP style.

1.1:
Improved the interface even further.

1.0:
Changed the way in which Flash is disabled and enabled (no need to close all Internet Explorer windows).
Packaged the program into a user-friendly installer.

0.62:
Minor interface changes.
Fixed Tab order.

0.61:
Fixed the wrong message shown when Flash is in use.

0.6:
Double-checked that everything works.

0.5:
Started keeping track of updates :)
