Even with Jobs stepping down as CEO I'd say they are in wayyyy better shape than any other tech company out there.

Making totally superfluous products that no one - no one - needs is not being in good shape. Exxon Mobil is in good shape. Intel is in good shape. Apple is not. Its value is entirely dependent upon the capricious American consumer and their willingness to spend money they don't have on shit they don't need.

I think the stock will stabilize itself back after the initial shock.
That said, Apple is still full of assholes. Things won't change a bit.

And with the economy in the shitter for the past several years, Apple has had record quarter after record quarter. Go figure.

I guess you've never heard the idiom, a fool and his money are soon parted. Explain how investing money into something that has less than a 10% market share makes sense? Especially when the money you'd spend is more than what you'd spend to get into the 90% market share? There really isn't any besides "personal choice" and we all know how bullshit "personal choice" is. Any salesman will tell you that.

I honestly doubt much will change, he seems to have guided them down a path which would be quite hard to deviate from and probably incredibly stupid to deviate from. What they really need is a new salesman. Apple has never got by on innovation, they've gotten by having the best salesman in the business.
I don't believe you understand Jobs role, he's involved in the development of a lot of products. Basically the design and user experience has to pass muster in his eyes or the team goes back to work. I don't really agree with the premise that they're a sales-centric organization either, yes Steve is a smooth pitchman but the keynote addresses appeal to their fanboys the most. They've done well in TV advertising but I have no idea who their head of sales or marketing is. To say they've never innovated well is a crock.

However, you know who Jony Ive is and many of the other hardware of software heads. In the near term, keeping Ive is critical. They had to anoint Tim Cook as the next CEO before long, or he could've bolted. It's hard to say mid to long term how Apple will do without Steve Jobs. But you could make the same statement with Steve at the helm.

Market share of what? PCs? Computers are almost a side business to Apple at this point. Have you missed the last five years?

• Is PC better than MAC √
• Are Androids better than iPhone √
• Did Bill gates bailouts Steve Jobs to get in the business √
• Have touchscreen devices been around for more than a decade before the iPad √
• Do stupid illiterate people follow a cult named "Apple" √

Can you imagine the applause and craze that will happen if he takes off like 2-3 years of doing the introduction of products, etc and then comes back for a special appearance for some product...it will be like a rockstar for the tech world coming back from a long hiatus.

They need to wow everyone with their next few products and show the world it's the company and not the man that makes them.

How can you say that? Maybe in YOUR opinion, but as far as value of the company, cash on hand, etc...he did a damn fucking fine job.

My opinion has nothing to do with it. Most innovative technology company? Please. Most valuable technology company? Hardly. Apple could disappear tomorrow and the world would be over it by the end of the week.

You want an innovate technology company? How about Virgin Galactic, or IBM. How many supercomputers does Apple have vs IBM. They innovate at nothing. They make high end, consumer electronics. They are freaking Sony of the 2000s. Hell, even Sony actually invents stuff, so I guess that's an insult to Sony.

We're talking about their recent history I thought? not just today? The only issue I really have with their iDevices is that you are locked into an ecosystem. I'm not a big fan of that. Other than that I believe they are good, yet slightly overpriced products(but that's how I feel about most smart phones). Now their PC segment? yeah... you say that, except I still hear people telling me "Macs don't get viruses" and all the same non-sense that was used to sell people their computers a couple years ago. In fact I know 4 people who just spent well over 1300 dollars each on Macbooks. Why? Because "they just work". lols...

You're very much underestimating Steve Jobs ability to sell shit and that's quite sad because he may be the greatest salesman of all time.

Vic Vega has his feet grounded in reality. It's not so much that I dislike Apple, it's more the fact I hate the fucking idiots who fall for shit hook line and sinker because they're to fucking lazy to spend a minute doing any research on the products they buy.

LOL at the stupid shits who think Apple is going to tank overnight because of this.

I think the stock is going to take a hit in the short term. Apple is in good shape, but you're underestimating the emotional affect this will have.

And our salesmen are very much involved in what products we develop and how they are developed where I work. Do you know why? Because they have to fucking sell it. A good salesman knows his fucking product and Steve Jobs was the best.

Short term, yes definitely. When the smoke clears they will still on track to be the largest company by market cap by year's end.

Call it what you want, but the company put a music player, touchscreen, and tablet computer in the hands of millions and millions of people. Something NO other company has been able to do. A lot have tried. Most have failed. You have to be "innovative" to be able to do that. Just because they may have not gotten there first, doesn't mean they didn't do it the best - which I think is obvious by their sales (here's where you will call everyone idiots for buying their stuff because you can put together a super fast computer for much less price blah fucking blah).

IBM may make a robot that can fucking open a beer for you but right now that's useless to me. Apple is a corporation, a corporation in the business of making money...and they've done quite well. High-end products, or not, they work well and that's why they sell. Not because Apple "tricks" people. If the product didn't work well or be consumer-friendly, it wouldn't sell. I haven't found a phone that has a better touchscreen than the iPhone (and I personally use a Blackberry without touchscreen).

And by valuable, I think they meant that Apple has $75 billion in cash on hand...pretty fucking valuable.

They innovated marketing personal electronics to people. They didn't really innovate personal electronics. They weren't the first mp3 player, they weren't even the first harddrive based mp3 player. They weren't the first touch screen phone, they weren't the first tablet. They did innovate great ways to sell the product and establish their brand. Steve is possibly the greatest salesman of all time because he could sell products to people when people had no clue they wanted/needed it and yet there was almost always competition(except with the iPad).
