Lol, talk about hot off the press. This has literally just been announced. Anyway, no surprise considering his illness.

The company will be fine, but the stock in the near term might drop slightly.

Especially after he dies.

Course, he could just want to retire to a private island, surrounded by naked women, and live Zefram Cochrane's dream.

My prediction is about a 10% drop early in on, leveling out to 5% down by the end of the day. It will then later go back to more or less normal when people realize that Apple still has some very hot items right now. Of course who knows what will happen down the road.
In my mind a lot of Apple's value is its "fashion". Its very fashionable to have Apple products. If it becomes apparent that Apple can't stay fashionable without Steve Jobs in charge, then Apple is going to lose a lot of value.

lols, over inflated and now that Steve's left just like people predicted the stock will tank and that'll be "ZOMG THE BUBBLE IS BURSTING" duh. Over valued stock is over valued.

Hasn't Tim Cook pretty much been running things for a while anyway? Steve's role with Apple probably isn't really going to change much, this announcement just makes his stepping down as CEO official.

Not a big Apple fan, but I wish Steve the best and hope his health holds up.

Cook's been running the show for the past year to record earnings. Nothing's changed really.

lols, that's not running the show. Steve has been running the show because he's the figurehead. he's the one everyone identifies with Apple products. It doesn't matter if he handed the reigns over a year or so ago, he is the one in charge according to public perception and public perception is the only way Apple moves products.
