The curious thing about comparing health care costs per nation assumes (among other things) that the population density of the US is far lower than Europe, causing a certain redundancy. On average a facility might be able to handle X number of people, but in lower population areas people can't commute to keep them at peak efficiency. That means more doctors, MRIs, hospitals than would otherwise be needed and that drives up the costs significantly.

I subscribe to Investors Business Daily. They are an excellent source for financial and stock info (way better than WSJ) but their editorial policy is just to the right of Genghas Khan-and they have a far too frequent policy of editorializing politically within what should be straight news stories.

IBD has been pretty funny because they will just not admit they dropped the ball big time on Stephen Hawking and national health care, despite Hawking's clear statements that 100% contradict IBD. I get a real kick out of it because every few days IBD publishes a new editorial or news article every few days "clarifiying" their original misstatements, or better still (like they did just today) publishing additonal articles in an attempt to prove Hawking wrong.
