I started it about six months ago after finally making my way through the first two. I'm about 100+ hours in and have not finished the main story yet. The game is almost too good ... I'm afraid the quality and level of detail and care put into this game will ruin all other single player games for me, at least until this studio puts out another game.
Not going to lie, the structure and gameplay as well as story will ruin a lot of other games for you single player wise. Horizon zero Dawn I found was also a very very good game and kind of comes close. But that's on the consoles only.

I still have yet to reinstall Witcher 3 and finish it. It's one of those games you have to sit and enjoy it when you have nothing else on your plate because there is a lot to do and I always end up going from side quest to side quest. Before you know it, I've discovered all kinds of new items and barely advanced the story.

I picked up Shadows of Mordor for a couple of bucks net after selling the daily summer sale trading cards. Another successful Steam Sale.

I like that it gives suggested levels for quests -- I've been trying to complete main quests before becoming too over leveled, which is nice for pacing. I usually have the same problem with side quests, especially since they're often pretty interesting in this game.

Anyway, turns out the sale ended at 1 ... I went to check out at about 1:10 after putting it off for a week  I was going to buy the Metro bundle and Talos Principle gold edition. Oh well, I have tons of unplayed games from past sales so I am better off with the $20 in my pocket.

It's worth it. Just make sure it's wired (game streaming is terrible over wifi). I also use that for my 'media box' since I just connect to a system and play from plex from there.

Even over wireless AC 5ghz? I can wire it all together but it's gonna take some doing.

They're so screwed up. I *didn't* change my password, but trying to sell cards - AFTER a security process of confirming in e-mail - it put a two week
delay on the sell unless I do some 'mobile' based security system also. I don't use a mobile phone currently.

I bought a few games during the sale...

  • Aragami Collector's Edition (with Art Book and Soundtrack)
  • Guilty Gear X2 #Reload
  • The Talos Principle Gold Edition
  • Cozy Couch Co-Op Bundle (I owned 2/5 games)
    • Moon Hunters
    • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
    • Overcooked
  • Overcooked - The Lost Morsel
  • Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Expansion Pass
  • Tales of Berseria
  • Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition
  • Hollow Knight (with Soundtrack)
  • GUILTY GEAR Xrd -REVELATOR- Deluxe Edition
  • GUILTY GEAR Xrd REV 2 Upgrade
  • I am Setsuna
  • The Jackbox Party Trilogy (I owned 2/3 games)
    • The Jackbox Party Pack 3
  • Dead Cells (with Soundtrack)

...my original cart had a few more items, but I removed a couple based upon what I thought I would play. I tend to play RPGs (jRPGs especially) more so than other games, so they tended to get more favor. I heavily debated I am Setsuna given the negatives that I've heard about it, but given how it's much more like the jRPGs of yesteryear than other games, I gave it a pass. I was debating getting GUILTY GEAR Xrd, but I've heard so much about it, and how good Arc System Works is as a fighting game developer. So, I decided to give it a shot. If you include the REV 2 upgrade, it was the most expensive game on the list, but I wanted to make sure I gave it a fair shot. I did include the far cheaper Guilty Gear X2 #Reload too as it was only $1.99.

I am glad that Steam decided to start offering discounts if you own part of a bundle. Prior to that, you just paid the normal price, and didn't get anything for content that you already owned. In the purchases above where I noted that I already owned content, it was actually cheaper for me to buy the bundle. For example, I think it was a few dollars cheaper to buy the Jackbox Party Trilogy than to just buy Party Pack 3 separately.

Yeah it sucks, even if you add steam guard they lock you out for 2 weeks.

Awesome game. Best JRPG I've played in years .

I was a bit wary of it. I mean... I've heard a lot of good things about it... especially given how Zestiria was considered a bit of a letdown. The thing is that I've played some Tales games before, and I just never got used to the fighting system. My first entry was Tales of Vespiria on the 360, and it was this weird, Tekken-like system. I do own a few other games including Symphonia (the remaster) and Zestiria (got it for cheap).

I didn't end up buying anything, I kept reminding myself how big my backlog already is.

Yes. Long story short, the latency becomes too much of a pain in the ass to use it reasonably over wireless. You can get away with movie streaming I think (dunno, mine's been wired since day 1) but from testing, it's just annoying over wireless. I'd rather drag the computer into the room than deal with it, in which case, why bother with the link?

anyone think valve will bring back flash sales instead of these kind?

Anything is possible but when they started to allow refunds it's tough to sell something then refund for it or deal with a unsatisfied customer who is slightly out of the return period.
I do miss the flash sales, I wish they'd bring them back and do some kind of auto credit to your steam wallet but even then people will be pissed that it's a steam credit.

Just don't let items on flash sales be eligible for return during the sale. Meaning if I buy game X on normal sale then it goes on flash sale then I cannot return game X until the flash sale is over. Put a pause on the timer for returns so people don't lose that time. Sure some people will game the system and just buy it on flash on a different account then return the more expensive version after the sale is over but that would have to be a minority.

Yea, I gave up on cards. They completely ruined the system and made it a PITA to sell them.

Mostly agreed. I'm still on the fence, I'm pretty casual about them but I still have some fun selling a bunch over the year then using the money to buy something cheap & stupid.

It came today, wireless bad very very bad...

Im gonna have to move my internet line from the 2nd floor to the basement and run network cables from the basement to the first floor. I was really hoping to avoid this.... grrr

Now you know why to *never* trust any organization that's promising 'game streaming' across the internet. Latency doesn't even work for wireless in the same home.

Yea the ps4 play tv or whatever it was called was horrible for streaming games from the ps4 in a room like 10ft away to another tv. Even hooked up to Ethernet adapters it didn't do too well.

I like having all my core stuff wired anyway. All my desktops and home consoles have wired network connections running to them, makes a man feel good inside ;)

Shadows or Mordor - Should I use mouse/keyboard (what I'm most comfortable using) or Xbox controller? I used the Xbox controller and didn't mind it when playing the Batman Arkham games.

You mean the PlayStation TV? I own one (connected via Ethernet), and in my experience, it worked fine. Also, given the fact that I was able to easily play Resogun, a twin-stick shooter requiring quick reactions on my Vita while connected to my smartphone's cell service via Wi-Fi shows that it really isn't that bad.

I played it with kb/mouse; couldn't imagine playing it with controller - though take that with a grain of salt as I hate controllers - but kb was quite natural for this game (no funky odd key assignment or horrible dark soul interface); btw runs great on linux.
