If you are not a Christian, please be respectful and courteous and not flame in this thread. If you are not a Christian and would like to have a serious discussion (not a flame war) on the basics of Christianity, then please PM me.

I decided to start this thread because I realize that there are quite a few born again Christians on this forum. I thought it would be a good idea if we were to start up an accountability/prayer partner program. I would pair up members on the forum, and each member would talk with their partner on a regular basis about their walk with Christ. This way we can remain accountable, as it is easy to stray from our path. We will be able to pray for each other.

Some topics of accountability may include:
Reading our Bibles
Sexual Purity (this one is a biggie)
Keeping the Commandments/Sinning in general

It will be a great way for us Christians to share experiences, discuss belief systems, and help one another.

If you are serious about joining this program, please post in this thread or PM me. After we get a few people interested, I will begin to pair people up. Please ask any questions you may have, and list suggestions for improvemant.

We have 11 so far:
Myself
przero
cpals
Whade
dquan97
TekChik
bigben
Stark
Viper GTS
jaydee
Gravity

fonzinator and ILikeStuff will have access to the private thread, but are not doing the Accountability Partner program.

There are a few in this thread who have posted something positive, but I am only putting people on the list who have given me a definite yes, simply because I have no idea what everyone is thinking until they tell me for sure. So if you want in, make sure to say so.

UPDATE: Well unfortunatly our Private Topics forum is gone, but our AP program will continue on.

Accountability over the internet? Yeah, right.

I'm a Christian but I don't think this will work. Prepare to be flamed. :p

I think you should create a private thread in your private topic area and just PM the people who would like to participate in the thread the link. That way it is a sure way to keep out the bible thumpers.

The thing is that I don't know all of the people who are Christians on this forum, and I would really like to spread it to non-Christians.

I just hope and pray that the non-Christians who normally would flame me will be respectful. I am not asking them to participate. I just ask respect.

I think you would get more respect from those who are not Christian than those who are. you can believe what you want to, and thats fine, but please remember on earth right now there are roughly 4 Billion people who don't believe in Jesus Christ. they aren't wrong. just different from you. they aren't out to be converted. I am Catholic and not out to be protestantized to death in this group, so I must respectfully decline.

I'm sorry but I am not sure if I see your point. Why would Christians not respect this?

While I would say that posting this indeed falls under OT, I hope you understand mention religion, particularly Christianity will get you about as much support as Reparations at a KKK rally :p

No it really doesn't hurt to try. I am sure you will be getting tons of PM's soon from like minded Anandtechers who are looking for the opportunity to provide mutual support to each other through all the temptations and tribulations of life......(insert closeted homosexual joke here)................

because I think any group that ostentatiously displays their beliefs, be it religious or otherwise, does not warrant the respect. if you want to believe how you do, good. believe..more power to you. but i certainly don't want it rammed down my throat. that's what i meant.

amorse2183 - We all "ostentatiously" display our beliefs in one way or the other. Including you. Or else you would have read this thread and moved on.

You know, the guy asks nicely for a little respect and some of you can't even pass the thread by without some snide remarks. This hardly qualifies as having something "rammed down your throat". If you're not interested, just pass on by.

Grow up.

I think that's his intent. Nothing wrong with letting folks know you have a private topic and wish to disucss subjects such as these. I don't understand why people are crapping in this thread. If you're not interested just cruise on past and don't ask to be invited.

I love this thread.

If it works properly, it'll cut the number of religion threads down to nothing, and have the added benefit of keeping the "born-agains" happy.

So should I start a "Born Again Ditched Religion" thread in the sake of being fair? We could all join up and flame away, and you wouldn't have to hear anything of it. ;)

I thank you very much for that.

Przero, I will add you to my huge list of now 2 people (hopefully to grow soon).

I had no intention of ramming my religion down anyone's throat. My intention was to get a group of people who already believe as I do so that we can help each other grow spiritually. Not so much of an outreach as a support group.
