Yah, both have their merits. I'm going to use Netflix to continue to get the older stuff and will sign up for the Blockbuster one for new releases. I'm pretty upset with Netflix right now because I always get skipped over on the new releases on release date even if I've had them in my queue for over a month.

wait, so you pay more, have to drive to the store, stand in line, settle for what they have in stock, settle for 1/10 the selection, have to deal with the 16 year old with the pierced tongue saying "hi" when you walk in the door, and then you have to go back and do it again when you want another movie.

that doesn't seem very "=" to me.

Just fyi, Blockbuster requires it's staff to greet each person as they come in. It's a good policy. But I agree, they got no selection.

To each his/her own. I personally hate having to wait 4-5 days from the time I mail out my movies to the time I finally get more. This will at least satisfy impulse rentals.

Ha, when's the last time there was a line at BlockBuster? That place is like a ghost town when I go in there.

I might be interested but I just did the math and it costs me about 5 dollars in gas just to drive to BB and back home again.

As far as having to pay more, you have to consider the advantage of not having to wait for the mail.
You can take the movies back and immediately get more rather than waiting 2-6 days for shipping turnaround time.
Paying $25 a month for the 2 movie plan at BB would get you just as many movies as the 4 at a time plan at Netflix.

I think it's only the Alabama BB's that have a library of around 30. I mean seriously, how many bass fishing videos are there anyway.;)

I'd guess the local BB's here have at least 10,000 movies. Still can't compare to the selection at Netflix(which I do use). But most of the time, I'm just renting new releases and mainstream popular movies anyway. The only times I've been unable to find movies I wanted at BB were kids movies. BB has a crappy selection of kid's movies.

Last time I was in BB, they really didn't have TV shows for rental.

I do recall some of the HBO series however.

If BB would have them all, I may bother with this.

And how many movies could you possibly watch in a month? Excluding you burners anyway.

Not for me. I live less than a mile from a Blockbuster. 2 at a time for me is basically like having unlimited movies, other than the fact that they do CLOSE at some point.

I've had the 2 out at a time at my blockbuster a few months now. They have hbo series but also regular channel ones like 24, alias and stuff like that.

Figure a college student on break has all the free time in the world.
Suffers from insomnia.
give or take 2.5 hours per movie
24/2.5 = 8-9 movies give or take per day - the couple of hours for food and bathroom break :p

my BB has most of the season series of Friends, Sopranos, 24, Sex & the City, Alias, Bernie Mac Show, CSI, and some others. The only big one they're missing imo is Simpsons and Family Guy.

Also, my blockbuster is about 2 minutes from my house. I can stop by on my way to school or on my way back. They're selection satisfies me, and whats better is that everyone in my family (6 people) can use it as long as they return my movies. It comes in handy when my sisters and their boyfriends want to watch a movie or something. They just take whatever movies I have at home, bring em to blockbuster, and there you go.

netflix is still more cost effective for me... also greater selection, and much easier to browse

the turnaround is not an issue, its just a day turnaround for me.

Also the regular price is only $20 ish.. they are gonna raise it to $23 I think?

I wish I could do that.
After like 2 movies I go dizzy. :p That's why working out at the gym, tanning at the park is included :)

Netflix = Hong Kong martial arts & gun operas, Japanese monsters, samurai & anime, British old TV shows and movies, French comedies, dramas, and HK-inspired action, German movies about angels and Lola, . . .

Blockbluster = Hollywod top-40 movies.

I think I'll stay with Netflix.

I'm a Netflix customer - The BB's in my area have 0 selection. I, too, have walked out many times empty handed. I'm also a Greencine customer due to their EXCELLENT selection of anime (and pr0n)...
