You're becoming an old fart.

It has been said that most people become very 'conservative' as they grow older. I've found it to be just the opposite for myself - becoming more accepting of other ideas. Probably the only thing I'm becoming increasingly intolerant to is intolerance.

I feel the same way.

As do I. NPR is great. The quality and detail with every news report is refreshing. It beats cnntube nad foxtube, where all they want to do is show video clips tagged with baited titles. I'm a big fan.

As far as I can tell, and I'm republican, NPR is the most 'neutral' news. If they do something that was biased one way or the other, people write in emails/letters about it and they read them on the air. Good luck finding another news source that does that.

yeah, i listen to Diane Rheem most every day.

The locally produced shows, the BBC world sevice stuff... meh.

Talk of the Nation I run hot and cold with. When its good, its good, when its bad, man its bad.
Science Friday is almost always good.
Fresh Air is entertaining 80% of the time..
Then of course All Things Considered for the last 2 hours of work. I love hearing that bumper music. It means I'm on the home stretch.

I'm a big fan of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, CarTalk, Science Friday, Philosophy Talk, etc and so on. The only one I don't really like is BBC World Have Your Say. I'm usually interested in the topics, but the callers always bug the sh!t out of me.

I've been riding the bus to work the last 8 months though, so I haven't gotten to listen to it as much. The gf usually requires pop music (ugh) so I get vetoed early and often. Except for Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, of course.

I like NPR, mostly for the news and a few other bits. I absolutely don't care to listen to discussions about the rediscovery of some 18th century quilting techniques though....or any other similarly boring topic. They do that alot at our local station. I guess the station down in Colorado Springs is much better.

But if they don't tell you what to think he might have to use his own brain. And nobody wants that.

I've been listening to NPR on the commute to and from work for the last year. Morning Edition/All Things Considered probably help get me through the day and keep me in touch with what's going on.

I like it since it seems pretty neutral, doesn't try too hard to give me opinion, just news. Commentary is held to a minimum it seems and a premium is place on just giving facts.

It's NPR or Classical Music for me. I tried listening to talk radio but man that just made me really really angry.

I can't stand all of the politics and current event news (elections, middle east shit, oil, etc.). But I LOVE their offbeat times with random stories and interviews, movie/music/book reviews, etc. They have good stuff during the weekend.

Do you want to have Rush Limbaugh's babies?
:Q:shocked:

Something I hadn't even considered. He's not even married is he? Don't know what the attraction would be - except for his money.

This is almost as bad as contemplating little ann coulters wandering and terrorizing the earth.

Evil to ponder ... a limbaugh + coulter baby.

Probably. This doesn't mean that it's completely neutral though. You can't put away your bullshit detector.

Like fox news and similar ilk, npr has an agenda. It's just not accompanied with the demand that the listener turn off his brain. I believe this is the main reason npr threatens so many wingnuts. This and a gentler tone in general.

Long time listener, first time supporter here.

Edit: add a poll, eh? a) don't listen, b) listen some but don't donate, c) listen some and donate, d) listen lots but don't donate, e) listen lots and donate.

If I have one complaint about public radio it's the fund raising. Twice a year they play the guilt card (catholic, jewish?) to get money. And they are already funded by each and everyone of us federal taxpayers.

Even though there are still no official commercials, there are now (last few years) product and/or company 'announcements'. You can be sure that the station demands a 'donation' for these spots.

You seem to assume that a vagina is present in either of them.
Both are giant dicks, so reproduction should, in theory, be impossible between them.

Yup. When nothing good is on radio, I just switch to NPR, or their sister jazz station (no commercial progressive/pop-jazz!). A lot of it is pretty liberal, and the people they have to interview in the mornings are laughable, but most times, it's just very interesting to listen to. I LOVE cartalk! I drive just to listen to those two on saturdays.
