The biggest difference between SC and war3 is that SC is a game of hard counters where war3 is a game of soft counters.

you have obviously never experienced destroyers vs griffons, or dryads vs caster heavy human, or dryads vs chimereas.

only in very limited situations are hard counters available. War3 is still a game of soft counters.

Also, after the recent patch, your destroyer vs griffon example no longer work.

mutalisks are a higher tier. if you are rushing for mutalisks you will lose before you get them vs a hydra rusher. templars, much the same. medics don't exist in starcraft, I guess the strategies change some if you bring brood war into this but I was already sick of the "hunters w/ mucho money" maps around when brood wars came out and I didn't play much after that.

All this just makes me want to go play some more. I still think the most fun thing ever was combining two dark templars then using it to go take over the collector of the other races so you could get up to 600 guys (200 protoss, 200 zerg, 200 terran). That was just to much fun.

I guarantee you if I go mutaling, I will own somebody going hydra. Even plain marines are good enough to counter mass hydra. Hydras only do 1/2 damage to marines due to size. If mass hydra was so viable, you would see zergs dominate the starcraft scene. That is clearly not the case.

I don't place a lot of credibility in strategy advice coming from somebody who stopped playing so long ago when compared to viable strategy coming from professionals who play starcraft for a living. I am also sick of the mucho money maps, thats why I play limited money maps such as Lost temple, Nostalgia, Requiem, etc...

Perhaps more gaming vs competent opponents on non-money maps would give you more faith about starcraft.

Oh? As far as I saw, griffons are still magic damage and destroyers are still immune to magic, what did the patch change?

I'm sure it would, but without a ladder game system like warcraft 3 I could never find those types of games. That to me is the biggest reason to play warcraft 3 over starcraft.

Well, I agree that the SC ladder system needs some reworking but the war3 system with AMM isn't so great either. Ranks are so inflated now.

For good SC gaming ladders, you have to go to WGTour or Neo-gamei.

When they announced Ghost they specifically said that it WAS NOT Starcraft 2. AFAIK, one of the development teams is currently working on an unannounced project.

Shut up. I remember that one game where you beat me with mutaling. Anyway, off to class now. Aim me if you're playing tonight.

there was some destroyer nerfing in the patch, but it doesn't really matter as far as them being a griffon counter, since griffons can't hurt them at all.

So whats the human counter to Destroyers?

Hawks still can't shackle them right?

Its been a while since I played war3.

Q: Will there be a StarCraft II? When?
A: Although we have not made any announcements and do not have a development or release timeline, we do fully intend to revisit the world of StarCraft on PC at some point in the future.

rifle will own destroyers if you force fire that should be enough since rifles do 200% against air/light and magic dmg is reduced against medium armor

yes my unofficial assumption is that it is defintely in the future, and possibly being worked on as we speak

Yes there are reasons certain Koreans are paid 6 figures for playing Starcraft, not just anybody can do it.

by the time sc2 comes out, war3 will be balanced :p

remember, it took starcraft a little while to get balanced, warcraft III is a bigger beast since you have four races, and a more variables, namely hero's, autocasting, etc.

Hopefully it'll be out before 2010, i'd love to hit it up before i'm 30 :p
