Yes, I've played WoW. No, its not the best MMORPG ever made, just the simplest.

And, yes, I have also played every Blizz game since WC1. WC1, 2, Diablo, SC, and Diablo 2 were all better titles than WoW, though D2 is arguable.

WoW is nowhere near the simplest MMORPG ever made, but is the best one. Sales records and review scores both back that statement up. I'm pretty sure you are an EQ or UO fan Bateluer and while I have favorable memories of both games, on the grand scale, WoW is the best. Your original negative statement came off as fanboyish because you decided to call everyone playing WoW an idiot which obviously isn't a clear headed thought.

Actually, I think all of the drop ship units acknowledgements are from Aliens. "In the pipe, 5 by 5" or something like that is one of them...I know thats from Aliens as well.

Many units use pop culture. The ghost is clearly Clint Eastwood...my mom actually pointed that out when she walked past my room while I was playing.

But it makes no SENSE! The Protoss are the most advanced raced and they can't even buff out a dent? Balance is great, but not at the expense of realism. Especially blatantly obvious realism.

Starcraft isn't realistic at all. And I think most people would agree that balance comes first in an RTS anyway. As mentioned, shield batteries allow instance healing of units on the defensive but its balanced by the fact that only part of the unit can be healed.

I always thought the protoss were portrayed as a race that rigidly adhered to tradition, and despite there power they weren't very adaptable. (In the cutscenes anyway).

Hydralisks were an assimilated peaceful species, same with mutalisks and the rest. Kerrigan is merely an infested human thats had special treatment. Shes a zerg not a hybrid. If they wanted to they could make more kerrigans, what would that do to the games balance though? Exactly, throw it out the window. Just because she can cloak and psi storm dosent mean crap.

she's got the powers of a toss templar, a terran ghost, and a zerg defiler.

I have played most of the games on that list, and i agree that WoW holds the #1 spot followed by DAOC.

Which is why im creaming in my pants over Warhammer. If mythic learned from their mistakes they could easily top WoW.

Please get the damn facts straight about Blizzard. Blizzard has 3 TEAMS that work on their 3 most popular franchise. One team works for Diablo, one for WarCraft, and one for StarCraft.

WoW is one of the simplest, if not the simplest. Sales figures don't make a game good. Halo 1 and 2 both sold very well and they were utter crap. The various Sims 1/2 expansion packs sell very well and are also usually crap. If fact, most of what EA produces is trash. Most reviewers these days are bought off by the large publishers like Vivendi and EA, so even review scores mean nothing these days.

WoW was loaded with bugs at release, which took months to fix. In fact, there were features in the manual that were not added until the game's 1 year anniversary. If any other company had done this, people would be crying for their heads on platters.

For some reason, Blizzard can do no wrong. When other companies make the same mistakes, they get crucified, but Blizzard comes out smelling like guest room soap.

It is my understanding that Blizzard North works on Diablo (most of the original creators of diablo have left to do other projects).

The rest of blizzard is broken up into teams, but not like youre saying.
